“Next to the water, good clean rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

We had no problems with a late check-in, reception was accomodating for our late arrival. Room was very clean, and spacious. We weren't able to open the doors leading onto the grass overlooking the bay, and the tv didn't turn on, but other than that we had no complaints. We will happily stay here again.

Comfortable, Clean, Classy…………….A hugely competent management team with friendly staff!
Something of a back-water, but easy to get to – 1.5 hours to Townsville and a bit more to Cairns, with a good road to the door. A haven for fisher-folk/boaties and close to Orpheus Island and the Barrier Reef etc., the relative isolation is a blessing in disguise, but this will not last as the word will get out!
I was there attending a workshop, with this venue selected because of ease of access for many local delegates and only a short step from the International airport at Townsville for the interstaters. The conference facilities were first class – spacious, with great water views over well maintained lawns and gardens. The catering aspects were exactly as ordered with quality ingredients well prepared and presented on time.

The Resort complex sports a comfortable restaurant with an adequate menu for most tastes. Our group was well catered for with an excellent buffet selection which was well received by all (try the sticky date pudding)

Rooms were clean and comfortable – room 26 was great with water views over manicured lawns to the boats at anchor. Air-con, fan, a good shower and comfortable bed ticked the remaining boxes.

Post-conference we were able to organize several outings – fishing on the outer reef was a popular choice as was a day in the Hinchinbrook Passage with local experienced guides. Management provided BBQ facilities and a fantastic range of salads to accompany the line-caught Coral trout that we were able to coax from the depths of the Great Barrier Reef. A Grand Finale to a great stay.

Top of the list for next year’s conference..

We stayed overnight in one of the waterside one bedroom apartments. Friendly helpful staff warmly greeted us and showed us on map the layout of our accommodation and facilities. We were thrilled when we entered our room with the beautiful view overlooking the water to Hinchinbrook Island, we felt very spoilt indeed. Shower had good water pressure and bed was great to sleep on. Walked around the jetty and area. Beaut spot. Worth staying more than one night. Next trip we plan to bring the boat and stay a week.

we booked a waterside unit after being upsold from a motel unit. On our arrival at 6.30 pm I had to use the night bell to get someone to chech us in. Had to pay up front and was soon to learn why. Our waterside unit turned out to be a car park view. Went back to the office to discuss this further , but, surprise, surprise , they must have been watching on CCTV. No-one would answer. When I returned the key next morning I conveyed my disappointment to the guy in reception , only to be laughed at by a smug individual. Just a warning to others not to be ripped off like we were

We stayed here back in '04 when it was first opened, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay then...as we did now. Top little spot for the family to get away from it all, and enjoy some peace & quiet. It may appear as a bit of a sleepy hollow to a few, but we enjoyed staying here for the same reasons as (all those) years ago. It has a charm all of its' own.

Fittings/fixtures weren't quite as smart as w-a-a-ay back then, but the people are what make this a place to put on your must-visit list. You will not meet kinder/friendlier people on the planet, and it's a lovely spot for that reason.

I can highly recommend this as a destination for anyone wanting to experience a warm, friendly, and sociable environment.

Lovely spot/great people/laid-back environment and the kids really have a ball...what more can you want..?

Cheers,

Rick

We rocked in here on the off-chance as our preferred accomodation was fully booked. What can I say!! The room was big and airy with limited cooking facilities, but acceptable. We had a first floor room with large balcony and a fabulous outlook over Hinchinbrook Channel and Island. The birdlife was abundant and inquisitive and at night it was so quiet we slept like babies.

Not much around in the way of restaurants etc, so we did have to self cater, but we had the space to do so. They have a small cafe/bar for breakfast & dinner but not open every night.

We would have stayed longer than one night but we had a deadline, however we wouldn't hesitate to stop here again and stay a bit longer.

Last but not least, the staff were all very friendly, helpful and pleasant - from reception through to housekeeping - well done everyone.
