“Amazing place - magical wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

Our daughter's wedding took place here at the weekend and I just cannot rate the staff, especially Becca, highly enough. Every single member of staff we passed or saw smiled, acknowledged us, asked if they could help us. This, together with the stunning venue, really contributed to the most magical day, enjoyed by all. The food was amazing (breakfast, canapés, wedding breakfast and evening buffet) - when you are serving 100 people this is a major achievement - and there was loads of it. Would totally recommend this venue for anyone's special day. Rooms are quirky, impressive, very spacious. We stayed in both the Old Rectory and the main house. Less spacious but really cosy was Peregrine House, which made a perfect venue for a pre-wedding night get together.

Room Tip: Nothing to do with rooms but two tips - I understand the reasons about check in times so maybe plan...

We attended a wedding on Sunday 22nd December and stayed in Room 6 of the Coach house. The venue was lovely and we were glad we stayed onsite so we didn't have far to go to retire in the evening.

The whole day was lovely and the staff were very helpful from arrival to departure. The whole building is a maze of corridors and hidden gems and we took the opportunity to have a look around. The wedding breakfast and the evening buffet was excellent.

My son had his wedding here Nov 13. Everyone thought the place was amazing. The staff were efficient and very helpful. The minute we arrived , the planner was their to help. We had some personal bits of decoration, they took these along with table plans and place names and prepared it all. They ensured everything ran smoothly throughout the whole day.
The food was delicious, waiting staff attentive. And the bedrooms were truly amazing.
Cannot fault the day. If you book a wedding here or are lucky enough to attend one you will not be disappointed . Cannot rate it highly enough 10 out of 10

Room Tip: I stayed in lady lake , four poster lovely room

Been to visit this venue today and having read some of the negative reviews on here I was interested to see this place for myself.... Now all I can say is I think these people must have been reviewing a different venue! Beautiful and immaculate throughout, inside and out, lovely rooms (all of them), lovely grounds, lovely views. If you think a venue deserves negative reviews because it doesn't have TVs or WiFi, you need to re prioritise! As far as disabled access, the main house is completely accessible, and the staff have ramps available for the few sets of steps that there are. No big deal. We have booked an event here next year and I can't wait.

If you want a venue suitable for a Princess – this is it. Justifiably lauded by a magazine “Wedding venue of the year 2013”- perfectly describes the fairytale spectacle of St.Audries Park.
(A single lady guest in the Turret room bemoaned the fact that her hair proved to be too short when she had a call from a prince in the garden below).
We chose a mid-week winter “inclusive” deal which included 22 bedrooms, 10 of which were on the first floor in the main house. Yes, it is true that the rooms in the detached coach house are not as nice as the large and imposing bed chambers within the mansion, but it would be absolutely impossible to replicate their scale and grandeur. It is perhaps a pity that there were not just one or two of the best rooms with twin beds so that some of our single lady friends could have shared one stately room .
In our case “ inclusive” did not include items such as seat covers/sashes which are an extra charge, the bride’s changing room, which we did not need, is also an extra. The flowers (these were magically provided by my cousin Jan of renowned “Stems” in London who had provided the flowers for the “Great British Bake-off”) and the cake (a single tier plus a child’s toadstool cake we purchased from Waitrose exceeded our expectations).
As “second-time arounders” we were determined that only our best friends and favourite relatives be invited to share our day with us thus, unusually, we only numbered just over half of their minimum 60 people. Needless to say there were superfluous amounts of very drinkable house wine and delicious food available.
Becca looked after us and was happy to take a back-seat when we asked for informality and all staff were very pleasant and obliging. We had a log fire crackling in the Great Hall and all the reception rooms were warm and welcoming. The ceremony took place in the Orangery, the Registrar was brilliant and everyone said how moving and memorable it was. (We declined any readings as at our age we felt that might be too much like a funeral)!
Blips-yes OK there were a couple-we ordered 3 vegetarian meals and it seems only one arrived at its target diner. Disappointing that there were fewer petit-fours than the number of diners, made up for by the usual foil-covered mints. Surprising that there was no Armagnac in the bar. We paid our “dues” fully and on time yet we are still waiting (10 days later)-for return of our deposit.
Pity - we did not realise we had invited some ballroom dancers and yet had failed to request removal of the square of carpet in the Great Hall.
P.S. re some previous comments-This is not a hotel – who needs a TV on a one night wedding stay?
-We actually found that the cost of extra drinks, sandwiches, coffee was very reasonable considering the ambience and location.
-Would you choose to arraign the rooms with your own precious antiques/memorabilia in such a busy venue and trust everyone to behave around them? I would not.(other than for our event!)

Room Tip: The best rooms (in the house) do not have showers but are amazing except for perhaps the Countess Du...

What an amazing venue. Our daughter's wedding couldn't have been more special. Fabulous rooms, beautiful setting, immaculate gardens and delicious food. The orangery was bright, cheerful and made a superb setting for the ceremony. Claire, our co-ordinator couldn't gave been more helpful. She was there every step of the way, even supplying my husband with another buttonhole after his broke. Providing the bride and groom organise the allocation of the rooms, ie putting families together to share bathrooms in the old rectory and the coach house and everyone is aware it is not a hotel then everyone should have a good time. Although breakfast was within a half hour time slot (which again was beautifully prepared) it meant everyone could meet up again before leaving. We didn't realise that whilst rooms weren't available until 12, the bar was open from 11 offering a good selection of sandwiches. My only gripe was that we booked holly cottage the night before and weren't aware that the tv only played DVDs which of course we didn't take. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for that special place.

Room Tip: No phone signal unless you are on vodaphone.

we attended a family wedding here recently. the day ran smoothly as far as i know anyway. the staff were all attentive and polite. the food was great. we stayed over night in the coach house and i cannot understand why some people have not been happy there. we never had any cause to complain about it. the breakfast was good too. the only thing i cannot understand is why do these places have to charge so much for drinks. surely if they kept their prices reasonable they would sell more. we like a drink when at a family do but we refuse to pay such high prices. apart from that we had a great day & evening.
