mature trees good sized sites and right across the road is lake tahoe. No full hook ups which was a pain but we loved the location with the beach across the street. Bring your bike-you can bike to lots of nice places to shop, eat, browse..etc. We'd come back.

My huband and I were spending a week in Lake Tahoe. We wanted to camp close to Zephyer Cove as we were taking a sunset sailboat excursion out of the area. Well at Zephyer Cove campground it's $70.00 a nite on a weekday and for that amount of money we could stay in a hotel. Soooo we happened to pass by Campground by the Lake. We were pleasantly surprised. Great hosts answered all our questions ,gave us lots of info on places to see and a great resturant "Fresh Catch " at the marina. Beautiful place to sit on the water and watch the boats while enjoying good food.This campground would be an excellent choice for a family. Walking distance to lake with free beach access,kayak rental etc.Picnic area is all new. Library next door. Ice skating rink, indoor heated pool, gym, wi fi , basketball ,weightroom. Vistor center, museum, senior center within walking distance. We could not believe all the amentities,Would stay again with out question. Only dislike is if you get a space by the road there is a lot of traffic. We sleep with earplugs so this was not a problem.For the money you can't beat it . We camped in a 20 ft RV in space #66

Im not your typical camper, so when we started going campin here I loved it!! Its great!!! If you like to camp in the middle of nowhere, where the bears come out, then Camp Richardson is for you. I like Campground by the Lake because I have kids, I feel its safer here, as they have rangers walking through campground all nite. This summer will be our fourth time camping there and we love it. Its close to everything, walking distance, and right across the street from Lake Tahoe (the actual lake).
There isn't much privacy, but come on now, ur camping. If you want privacy then STAY HOME! Everything is very clean here, we enjoy it very much.

This was our 2nd year camping here. You have to make reservations way in advance since it is always booked. I love the pine trees, walking to the beach and the enormous sites.
This year the city was redoing the road in front of the lake. There is a nice kayak rental place right in front of the Best Western. Safeway is across the street. Walking distance from your campground. Atmosphere is really nice
