It was our Anniversary and we decided to have dinner somewhere special in the South Lake Tahoe area since were spending a few days to celebrate. We called on Monday for a Friday reservation and the only available time was 5:30PM so we did not hesitate. It is a very small restaurant, beautifully decorated and the service was very, very good. We started with a Napoleon of Veal sweetbreads layered with parmesan crisps, morels, tomato concasse, red onion marmalade and lemon caper brown butter. For an appetizer the portion was quite large and one of the best we have had in a long while. It is very rare to see sweetbreads on a menu. My husband had the Porcini dusted veal loin medallions with Shitake-Marsala beurre blanc, bacon ragout mashers, braised endive and baby carrots. The veal was tender and very flavorful but the endive was very bitter. All in all a good entree. I had the Jamaican jerk breast and confit leg of duck with mango duck glace, cumin scented Quinoa, fresh mango salsa and grilled patty pan squash. Delicious!! The portions are huge and we could not finish either of our entrees. In retrospect we could have done with out an appetizer. If we return to that restaurant we would make a dinner of appetizers only as they were very large portions and the appetizer menu had many wonderful choices.
