Six adult members of my extended family went to Lake Tahoe for a fall get-away after the kids went off to college. We went for the scenery, pristine waters, and beautiful natural landscapes. We didn't go for the food, but were so pleasantly surprised when we found Evan's American for our celebration dinner at the end of our week. Evan's is small (fewer than 15 tables) in size, but big in delivering a high quality, service oriented dining experience. We were taken care of by the entire team: Annie, Drew, Andy and Chef Jimi (who came out to talk with us twice). Pastry chef Anthony worked earlier but did a fabulous job (bananas foster in a tulip glass and the blackberry creme brulee competed for best dessert). The food was exquisite from the appetizers (fan favorites were the scallop quenelles and the orange and hoisin glazed prawns) to the entrees (veal medallions, scallops, and filet of beef were all excellent). This restaurant is on the fringe of a relatively undeveloped part of the South Lake area, but it is worth the effort to dine there. Our thanks to the entire team that became part of our dining experience that evening.
