“Great place to grab a burrito on the way out of Tahoe, or to go.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Although our orders were wrong a few times, the food here is really very good. I have witnessed others complaining about orders wrong, I think the problem is the cook doesn't understand English.

“Great burritos & great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Great food and a great location to grab lunch on the way to or from Tahoe! This Mexican food is better than any that we've had at South Lake Tahoe. The burrito is fabulous. Roy, the owner is a really nice person--- he even helped us start our car when our battery went dead while we were there.

“Delicioso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

A small place, located just past the sort of toll-booth checkpoints on the way out of town. (It is on the right as you drive away from South Lake Tahoe.)
It does a good deal business for locals, and we noticed several public safety/law enforcement type vehicles come to get lunch, (and they always seem to know the best places.)

Mayas has a wonderful charm to it, and the staff are kind and helpful. The menu is simple, and various types of beer can also be had. The inside is small and comfy, but we had lunch outside in a small garden under the sun. The fish tacos are amazing!
It is the best I have had since I had fresh caught fish in Mexico...The seasoning is perfect, and nothing is overwhelmed by excess cheese or spices, (thus, for some it may not appear "Mexican".) It is just the vibrant grilled flavor of the fish and lime that come through.
We appreciated the healthy nature of the food too, and the fish was served perfectly grilled. The food was a great blend of quality and simplicity.

It is not a large operation, but there is a bar of various salsa fixings and chips you can help yourself to. Lots to try!

There are upscale "Mexican" places in the casino, but this place is the real deal...
