“Amazing, breathtaking review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Not to be missed if you visit South Lake Tahoe. The 2 stage trip is breathtaking. 3 if you take the final chair lift. Tickets a little pricey but when you consider the engineering that has gone into it, then its not surprising. Best, most dramatic view of the Lake and surrounding hills and valleys. Restaurant in common with all skiing destinations is pricey so in the summer take a picnic and follow one of the walking trails from the top. Be warned they can be hard going due to altitude but worth it for the views.

“The view from give”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is one of the pricier attractions in our town but really is a great way to see the lake and surrounding area and marvel at the sight. Many people don't realize Lake Tahoe's size until they get here and view it from above. It's a bit of a thrill riding down too. Do stop at the observation deck and read all the view point signs to further your orientation of the area.

“Oh what a view. (And you pay dearly for it.)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Gondola at Heavenly Valley, South Lake Tahoe, is not just for winter skiers. The gondola is perfect for non hikers who want to enjoy dramatic views of Lake Tahoe, surrounding lakes, reservoirs and valleys. During the warmer months, pack a picnic lunch, bring a camera, and ask for a map of walking trails that branch off from the first level stop and enjoy the day. The ride is fast and smooth, in enclosed plexiglass cars. The clImb is steep, and for those with acrophobia, probably not the best choice for an excursion.
The downside of this excursion is the price - as astronomical as the summit. Adult tickets - $38.00 with slightly discounted prices for children, youth and seniors. The Gondola is open 10:00-5:00 during summer months, 10:00-4:00 the rest of the year. To avoid the Heavenly Village nose bleed parking rates park and walk over from the nearby casino lots.

“A Must Do for all Visitors to Tahoe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The gondola trip at Heavenly is a wonderful experience for everyone in the family. The ride up in the comfortable gondola provides the best views of the Lake and the mountains in the basin. At the mid station you can take your time photographing or just drinking in the full panorama of the Lake. At the top are lots of activites for the kids as well as some good hiking trails both from the Tamarack Lodge and by taking the Tamarack Chair up and hiking the upper trails. The food in the Lodge, by the way is pricey but excellent. Just remember, you are are at 9,00 to 10,000 feet so take your time and drink lots of water.

“Memorable and Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

The views and photo opportunities cannot be beat. Plus there hiking trails and a bar depending upon your mood at the top. It leaves from the middle of a beautiful village with all kinds of shops and restaurants and even a very nice movie theater. You will be gaining some altitude so if you are coming from sea level might want to wait until your second or third day...
