“Fantastic ride!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

This is a must do!! A beautiful scenic ride to the top! Buy the lunch and ride tickets and eat a the lodge at the top of the mountain. Wear your hiking shoes and walk the trails. This was by far the best adventure in South Lake Tahoe!!! The views are amazing.

“Magnificent scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

When I bought the tickets, we were told that due to the windy conditions (fire prevention) some of the hiking trails were closed. So I am thinking, windy and in a gondola going up the side of a mountain? You could not feel any swaying in the gondola. I just can't describe the ride and the view of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. It is breathtaking. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the winter with snow. The first stop is the observation deck. There is circular deck with information signs, restrooms, a small gift shop and park rangers that will answer any questions. You can get back on the gondola and go further up the mountain. The ride back down does not stop at the observation deck so be sure you get off on the way up. You can also get tickets to include a meal. We did not, so can't comment on the food.
The gondola was a bit pricey but well worth it.

“Fantastic views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

The Gondola was a lot of fun. I have a slight fear of heights but was able to ride the gondola with no problem. Stop at the first level as that is where the best views are. Absolutely magnificent views of the lake and surrounding areas. Luckily it was a weekday and not busy, we also bought the tickets that included the meal at the top. Decent food for the price, waited a little long for the pizzas though.

“The Mother of all views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

If you want a picture postcard panarama view of Lake Tahoe this is a must! You will want to have your camera/camcorder for sure. Do not miss the 1st stop off, observation deck because the views are incredable & you cannot stop on the way down. The person who wrote a review suggesting "skip the first stop" should be horse whipped! You don't want to miss this eagle eye view of such a beautiful site. As you continue on up the mountain be prepared for some hearty hiking (bring water), it's a bit of a climb, but worth it! The gondola price is as steep as the mountain but you will be glad you made the effort! Don't forget your sunscreen or sunglasses!

“Closed for Repairs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

We were really looking forward to taking the gondola up to the top. We checked the web site 24 hours before heading to Tahoe. When we arrived we learned that it had been down for repairs for several days. Sure would be nice if they would update the web site.
