Hannelore, the owner and manager of Alpenrose inn gives each room its personal touch and make a stay a real good experience. We planned to stay a couple of days and remained almost two weeks because of the great ambience of the Hotel and the kind and efficient support we got from Manager and Staff of the hotel. We now plan to go back and stay there for one month!

We (my husband and I and our two girls) stayed for three nights early January. This trip was mainly for some snow play for our daughters.

Pros -
Great location! Close to Heavenly, shopping, restaurants, casinos.
Room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was nice and convenient.

Cons - Unfortunately the walls were thin and for the first two nights our sleep was disrupted by the guest/person upstair who for whatever reason was walking around at all hours of the night. We heard loud footsteps all night :( Fortunately, on the last night we didn't hear a sound (guy must have checked out because we noticed a couple up there).

I sent two emails to the hotel to notify them of the issue with the noise but unfortunately I have yet to get a response almost two weeks later.

Due to the location we may possibly consider Alpenrose Inn for our next trip to Tahoe in the summer or next winter but I do worry the thin walls could be an issue again.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review; we are glad that you enjoyed the hotel amenities and location. We do apologize for the noise issue--we hope our guests who are having any difficulties will let us know right away so we can rectify the situation with a room change, etc. Also, we are always working to improve the Alpenrose, and are currently installing soundproofing materials in the wall and floor of one room, more to come in the future. We hope to see your family in the future.

Finding the Alpenrose is an example of why I love the Tripadvisor community so much! We spent our anniversary skiing in Tahoe this year and the Alpenrose was an excellent place to stay. Everything was incredibly clean, cozy, comfortable and everyone was very friendly and helpful. It's a quick walk to the gondola and restaurants.

It's rare for me to not having something new to say - but- I don't know what to cover that hasn't already been said! I highly recommend the Alpenrose and can only assume it's the best value in Tahoe (I contacted many hotels before booking!)

Thanks Hannah!!

We enjoyed our one-night stay and would definitely put this inn at the top of our list for next time. Restaurants are close by, rooms were very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Loved the bathroom sink and roomy shower. There's a new spa room with a hot tub but we didn't bring our swimsuits. Walls are somewhat thin and I could hear the music from the next room but it didn't really bother me since I'm not a light sleeper. Continental breakfast and coffee is included which was nice to have before another day of skiing. The owners were nice.

Hannah the owner from Alpenrose Inn in South Lake Tahoe takes great pride in her Inn and it shows with how clean the rooms are and especially how comfortable. The service by far was greater then I experienced at any of the chain motels such as Motel 6 Best Western etc.
The morning continental breakfast was fresh and service again was superb. There is someone always on the premises to assist you in anyway at anytime.
Hannah allows pets and as i checked into the room my german shepherd found her chew toy, ball and treat in her food bowls that hannah has set up. (again she pays tremendous amount of time to detail)
The lake is a short walk away as is heavenly mountains gondola is but a 10 minute walk and a 2 minute drive if you hit the red light at the end of the road.
Again very clean and comfortable with attention to detain and owned by Hannah herself, you cant go wrong with the stay it was my first time and not to be my last.

Room Tip: no pool but thier is a spa and the bed is high end very comfortable. I am one to look at manufactur...

We decided on a trip to Tahoe on Wednesday for a weekend. So i searched around and found Alpenrose Inn.I called in and Hannah let me know that a English tea room was available. So we went for it..Im glad i did.The stay at the inn was a good experience for our family .Our friends who are locals in Tahoe were surprised that such a small inn had such wonderful rooms. So to list out pros and cons
Pros:-
1)Wonderful staff
2)Clean rooms
3)Enjoyed the breakfast and coffee immensly.Instead of having a lot of items which were full on processed things, the breakfast had bars which were full of nuts and fruit. We really loved it.
4)Kitchenette in the room and cutlery made available
5)Organic soaps and lotion
6)Close to everything(Heavenly, gondola, raleys and many other businesses)
7)Most importantly,it is a small business

Cons:-
1)The room smelled a little musty on entering
2)Room was super duper cold when we first entered it And after 4 hrs of driving its not really a good experience.

Room Tip: Choose the room on the second floor.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are very glad that you enjoyed the English Tea room with its gas log fireplace and other amenities. We always try to turn the heat on prior to our guests' arrival to avoid the cold room you found, and we apologize for neglecting to do so for you. Also, we frequently perform deep cleaning on the rooms, and the "musty" smell should be taken care of. This spring we will be adding a breakfast room and perhaps expand the continental breakfast somewhat; glad you enjoyed it! Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you again!

At $89/night in ski season, eight minute walk to Heavenly gondola, a good alternative to pricier options.
Pluses:
- Quiet but still with easy access to slopes, stores and restaurants
- very friendly staff
- Clean
- bed was perfect in level of softness and firmness
Minuses:
- room was icy upon entry and only source of heat, an iron stove heater, took over an hour to bring the room to room temperature.
- water in shower never got warm enough to take a shower, even after running eight minutes
- breakfast was very simple...a little more of a splurge by the owners could markedly improve this (eg more varied fruit, fresh baked muffins, orange juice, yogurt could all be added to bring this up to the level of most hotels

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are glad you were able to enjoy the comfortable beds and great location. Generally we turn on the heat for our guests prior to arrival so that the room is warm and inviting; we sincerely apologize for neglecting to do that for you. Just fyi, we are currently preparing to add a breakfast room in the new year, with more extensive breakfast selections.

We really do appreciate your input and suggestions and look forward to seeing you again. Happy Holidays!
