“Enjoyable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We spent 3 nights in a one bedroom villa in the Sierra building; which appeared to have been recently updated . Check-in was easy; quick and efficient. The unit was of ample size and very comfortable for two people. Location could not have been better, only steps to the gondola. Additionally, several restaurants, a Starbucks, a grocery store, and a sporting goods store were within easy walking distance of the property. The only compliant, the heating in the unit was inconsistent, either blasting hot air or the unit would not turn on at all for long periods of time. Regardless of this one annoying issue, we would not hesitate to return to this property.

The hotel is in a great location and feels new. We would have loved our stay but we had big issues and the hotel staff was not helpful. The heat in our room had only one level: high. Even when we turned it off and opened the window, it was too hot. We finally called the front desk and an engineer came up and confirmed it was broken. But they didn't offer to change our room. They just gave us 1 free day of parking. Then the toilet broke and it took them an hour to come fix it (despite telling us someone would be up in less than 20 minutes). When I mentioned it at the front desk, they told me they were getting new toilets... And finally, at 2:30am a couple were screaming fighting for an hour. There was screaming, things being thrown and a lot of profanity. While these things happen, it would have been nice if the customer service/response was better.

Great hotel. The Gondola is right off the lobby so you can just wear your ski boots from the room. You can valet your skis for free as you can't take them to your room. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurants were all very good. The village was great, with all kinds of shops and other restaurants. Grocery store was just across the street so it was easy to stock up the kitchen. We were in a 2-bedroom and the king beds were very comfortable. The hide-a-beds were also comfortable. The place easily sleeps 6, but you could fit 8 people. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We were in room 7250 which was at the back of the resort. Required no elevator to walk across the p...

Loved this property as our base in South Lake Tahoe. We shared a room (2 adults, 2 children) and we had plenty of space. Useful little kitchenette if required, sink, refridgerator, room to hang up coats and snow gear, plenty of storage. Our room was nicely located overloooking the pool. Kids had a blast in the outdoor pool and hot tub. The Cubhouse for the kids was also so useful, they loved hanging out there and playing the Wii, board games, puzzles etc. We didn't have time to send the kids to the organized activities but we will make a point of it the next time. The location of the property was fantastic, you walk out the door and the Heavenly Gondola was literally right there. Also highly recommend lunch for the whole family in the Fire and Ice restaurant, it was great value, and really really good food! Kids loved being able to choose their ingredients and watch the food being prepared. The restaurant seemed very lively at nighttime so we opted to eat lunch there instead as we had young kids with us. That option worked out great for us!

We look forward to our return trip to Tahoe and to staying at the Timber Lodge again, for sure.

We are MVCI owners that transferred into Timber Lodge for a ski weekend. What a wonderful property. Not only are you located right at the Heavenly Gondola, you are within walking distance from good restaurants, pubs, and casinos. Kids skied, then hit the heated pool and hot tub in the PM. The Fire and Ice restaurant was very good as was the Base Camp Pizza. Kids also enjoyed the Movie Night activity put on by the resort. Highly Recommend - will return.

What can I say that hasn't been said by everyone else before me? This is a great property practically connected to the gondola. Everything you need is walking distance including a grocery store if you opted for the full kitchen unit. Heated pool. Four hot tubs. Kids areas. It is essentially condos so no room service or daily maid service. But maid service is there if needed. Great customer service. And recently remodeled. We plan on returning.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms

....just steps to the Heavenly gondola, restaurants and shopping (casinos are appx 2 blocks away). The hotel is decorated lodge-style, rooms fairly spacious, free wi-fi, and the beds/pillows comfortable. The staff are attentive and helpful. Lots of activities (cost extra) such as yoga, wine tasting, etc for adults and crafts for kids. Very family-friendly. Only downside: cost. Rooms are a bit spendy IMHO and they ding you again for parking. Still, the location can't be beat. This is our third time here and we'll come back again.
