“Thankful for returned lost and found item”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

My son left his new windbreaker in the General Store. We had already driven half way back to San Fran for our flight home. The manager of the store took my name and address, and walked the jacket and information over to the lost and found and we have received it safe and sound back in NC. We are grateful for the excellent customer service.

This review is for the Camp Richardson RV park. If you like camping in the dirt (there is NO grass here, all night parties with no oversight or rules enforcement, bugs in the showers (literally climbing up the walls in the stalls), sloped sites (almost every one), traffic noise, crowds-crowds-crowds of drunk people then this is the place for you. We will not stay here again. If you are young and into partying, this place will give you a spot to hoot and howl all night with no manager bothering you to stop. There was even a drunk guy getting sick all over the already disgusting bathroom early one morning. A poorly maintained, poorly managed party paradise if you're into that sort of thing, we are not. Beware if you have kids too as there is a lot of lewd behavior going on around the campground/RV park.

Im sorry but this place simply doesn't care about its clientele unless they ate spending money at their very good, Beacon Grill or at the Marina.

The RV park for our family was the worst we visited on our tour of California. It is a dust bowl with poor facilities, no washing/ cleaning( Laundry) which on this park is essential as there is so much dust and dirt. It gets everywhere.

Camp Richardson is such a good spot, but poorly managed and maintained. The Management probably don't need to work at improvements as the location and excellent beachfront team make up for the poor camping & RV experience. It could be so much smarter, more family orientated rather than just big groups squeezing as many tents on their pitches as they can and they could charge more as a result. Take heed CR team.

A great location and beachfront set up, undermined by poor management, poor park facilities and over- loading of numbers.

I would avoid staying in any cabin within 500 yards of the Beacon because they keep a large refrigeration truck loudly idling 24 hours per day in the parking lot. Ironic considering the supposed quiet time hours and environmental "keep Tahoe blue" mantra of the area.

Complained several times to staff and the respective GM's - nothing was done. Left a day early because we did not want to spend another $340 night at a truck stop.

On a positive note, the ice cream store and Marina staff were great.

Room Tip: Pick a cabin far away from the Beacon

This was a nice RV park. We booked a full hook-up spot for 2 nights, but when we arrived were told that we had already checked in... a bit of messing around and we were given a spot, it was water and electric only. Seems like the 2 nights reserved were the wrong dates, despite me being very clear when reserving the site. Not so much of an issue as the park has a dump station, but it did mean we had to unhook and move to use the dump station. On the second day i went to ask about a refnd of the price difference in the full hookup and water/electric site and got the same guy as i had encountered on checkin... he had no recollection of the previous days issues and expected me to be checking out. More confusion and were extended another nights stay at no cost, but no refund for the incorrect hookups. After i left a couple of days later i check my bank to see i have been overcharged by a night. One phonecall later and its all resolved. A nice camp slightly spoiled by some silly admin mistakes.

Anyhow its a nice location, a short walk from the lake, but not really close enough to town to walk or cycle to town. The bar on site is a welcome addition to the location. There is bike rental available on the site and some nice relatively easy routes nearby to enjoy some fresh air. Shower block and toilets were clean and in good condition. Most sites were on the hill in the trees so levelling wedges etc would be very useful to get the RV on the level.

Great camp site though bring your own entertainment for the kids. Pope beach is a walk across the road though the water was way too cold to get in. A beautiful area and well worth a visit

Can't argue with the location and the grounds. Very nice. But from the minute we got there we had nothing but problems. We showed up a little past 3PM and the rooms we booked weren't ready. They hadn't been cleaned. No biggie. So they gave us some other room which was cool. But when we got in it turned out they had not been cleaned either. The beds were made but there was trash including cups full of cigarette butts still in the room. The sink had some mystery gunk on it and the shower had sand and dirt from the last stay. I'm not super picky and it was nasty. We cleaned it up ourselves and put the trash out in front of the room in a trash bag.

We told them when we booked the room that we were in a 24 foot RV. The guy at the desk helped me find a place to park it. Then when his boss found out he was angry and the desk clerk suddenly didn't remember asking me to park there. Sheesh.

I sat in the lobby using the free WIFI. Nice. But the reason I was compelled to sit and write this was that it was a constant stream of people coming in with problems from busted plumbing to lost reservations.

It was quite a scene.
