On Friday night we checked into this place to begin our weekend at The Valhalla Renaissance Faire. Upon entering the room I immediately smelled something foul. The curtains were next to the extremely old heating unit and were beginning to discolor from being almost melted/caught ablaze. Upon opening three different drawers, there were old used tissues and crumbs everywhere. the windows did not lock properly, and the door locking mechanism worked "sometimes". the bathroom floor had shoe prints from being mopped/ or recently wet. However, looking at the light switch plate, you could tell hundreds of dirty fingers have used used it since it was last cleaned. In the corner of the bathroom was a pile of recently swept dirt. Perhaps the intention was to clean this, but the job never finished? The Television vents and holes where the speakers reside were covered in dried "something" resembling vomit. The room did have 3 beds as promised, I removed the comforter and the sheets did appear to be fresh. the door "peep-hole" was nothing more than a hole in the door covered with a piece of masking tape. The carpeting smelled like someone poured a bottle of cheap perfume on it. The staff was nice up to the point I asked for a cleaner room, and something in which I could actually secure the doors and windows. I should have known after climbing stairs that were half missing, and a balcony that is clearly rotting away that this was not the place for a family... so much for these websites offering "good deals" on Tahoe stays.
