“Great Motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2006

We found the hotel good, very clean and the staff helpful. Taking heed of other comments about the check in process we went armed with the booking reference and prepared for a slow process. The experience was to the contry no problems in retreiving our booking.

One tip as the hotel is some way out of down town, there is a really good bus service that runs from in front of the hotel and terminates at the heavenly Gondola station. As the service runs late into the evening we found it ideal as we didn't have to hunt for parking and it meant both of us could enjoy a drink with our meal.

  • Liked — That it was clean
  • Disliked — nothing in particular
  • Tips/Secrets — use the bus service to get to downtown. It's cheap and runs late into the evening.

Motel 6 in Lake Tahoe is Incredibly consistent. The managers obviously put some focus into cleanliness as I have stayed here several times and It has always been good, and I have always stayed during busy times like 4th of july etc. Clean rooms every time, and their facility and pool is nice, and a great location too in the middle of the lake tahoe strip close to the shopping and good food etc. (a very short drive from the casinos) The only thing that tests you at this hotel is it takes them a very long time to book you in when you get to the front desk, they often seem to have a hard time finding your reservation at first, so make sure to come with a printed confirmation or confirmation number to make it easier. They seem to put their focus on clean rooms instead of fask desk service but if your patient enough to wait, its all good after that. But then again ive always been there when they are packed. If you need something consistent, stay here...afterall Tahoe hotels in general are old, overused, not updated, I mean you have to lower your general expectations if you go to tahoe for hotels, almost all are very old, quaint, cheaply run places just like a side of the road motel 6 or worse. You wont find anything vegas style in tahoe, unless your in the tower hotels, so get real people! There are too many bad reviews of hotels here when people are staying in very small MOTELS. Im sorry but a 14 room MOTEL doesnt have the budget to have the best...think people ;)

  • Liked — Very consistent, clean, great value, nice property.
  • Disliked — very long Desk check in wait times
  • Tips/Secrets — Bring a printed confirmation and some patience for checking in.

This is a large Motel 6 with four "wings" or buildings. They just completely refurbished all the rooms. We stayed there on our way to and from SanFrancisco. The first room we had seemed totally new including the basin and tub. It also had a fridge and microwave. In the second room, the tub and basin were nice but not brand new. The rooms were painted; had new carpet, drapes and bedspreads. This is still a Motel 6 so don't expect spacious quarters. It's a pretty tight fit when you bring in the luggage. We found it to be more comfortable if we got what we needed out of the suitcases and set them against the wall closed and on their sides. We moved the chair into the corner and pushed the table as close to it as we could so we could have some walking room. The second room actually had more room than the first because of the fridge and microwave. The property is located just off the highway, so there is some road noise but it's not bad. We found it to be a decent place to stay. It even had a nice pool which several guests were enjoying. We paid $72.89 for a king room, senior rate, Saturday night, however we booked it several weeks ahead, before the refurbishing so it may be more now. We checked several other "Budget Motels" in South Tahoe and they were considerably more expensive. Don't stay at the Travel Inn it's old, not very clean and doesn't even have air conditioning.

  • Liked — The location, the price, and the clean room
  • Disliked — Small room, some road noise

We decided to head to South Lake Tahoe on the spur of the moment. We were sitting a dog and needed a "pet friendly" hotel or motel. Motel 6 in South Lake Tahoe proved to be perfect for pets and people! We were fortunate enough to be among the first to take advantage of their upgraded rooms. New carpet, new paint, new showers, and new designer bedspreads. Most importantly it was spotless clean! The room was equipped with two full beds, a refrigerator and a microwave. The only small drawback was that the full size beds were a very tight fit in the room. It was very cozy.
The motel was about five miles from the casinos, but very near restaurants and other activities. We were very pleased with the local, quiet, and family oriented accommodations.

Your typical Motel 6. The pool was closed for rennovation which wasn't mentioned when I made the reservation. Probably the most moderately priced place in South Lake Tahoe!

The Motel 6 is a basic, no-frills hotel in the very spendy South Lake Tahoe region. It's a good place to stay if you're going to ski at Sierra, as it's one of the closer places.

The room was basic, clean, and safe. The bedding and pillows are a little flimsy, which doesn't help after a day of falling down the slopes! The room is spotless, except for some wear-and-tear in the bath/shower area. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it. There is a Long's Drug located across the street and restaurants nearby.

I booked sight unseen, and it was fine for what I paid. I'd probably check out the Days Inn or Travelodge next time.

If you want a reasonably clean, comfortable, and inexpensive place to stay in South Lake Tahoe, Motel 6 is a better bet than comparably-priced motels in the area. Also, the walls are noticably more sound resistant than those of comparably-priced motels. Staff is very friendly. Only problem I found was the bedsheets were stained on many of my visits.
