“Nice and clean, convenient, and Cheap!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We chose this hotel initially because it was one of the least expensive. We were looking for a cheap vacation to the snow with the kids. Nothing fancy, just cheap. For the price, we would not have been surprised if it was a pretty bad hotel. We were completetly stoked when we got there and saw our room! It was clean, very spacious, had a little kitchen area with a fridge, flat screen tv, even a little balcony. It was very comfortable. They have a little breakfast included in the price too. Only downside was there was no elevator and were on the third floor. Turned out, this was not an issue for us at all, but could be for some people. Overall very satisfied with the service, our room, and overall stay. Would definately stay again!

I have mixed feelings regarding this property after our last trip. We have stayed here many times in the past (when the property was under another name) and have always had a good experience. This time, however, we were somewhat disappointed. The property is budget friendly and therefore "frill free". The rooms are basic, but clean. The location is awesome. It's a couple of blocks off the main highway and fairly quiet. It is walking distance to stores, casinos, skiing and the beach. They advertise free WiFi, but we had a hard time getting it to work. The following are reasons I dropped my review rating from "average" to "poor".

1. The sliding glass door was secured incorrectly with a bar so that a 1/8" gap at the top portion of the door (about 1 foot) allowed cold air into the room. Unfortunately, we did not realize the door had a gap until the 2nd day of our stay. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they apologized.........gee, thanks.
2. The socket in the bedside lamp was broken and hanging over the side of the lamp...slightly dangerous in my opinion.
3. No clock or alarm in the room......I guess they expect their guests to rely on their cell phones.

Room Tip: The south building across the street from the office tends to be a bit more quiet.

We were very happy to stay here on our ski trip. They put us in a prototype room that they just remodeled so it was vary nice. I do not know what the older rooms were like but we had a lot of room with a comfortable bed. It had an old TV but it was a larger screen. The room was clean. If I ski Tahoe again I am sure that I would stay here again. The price of the room was such a value too. You are close to all of the Casinos (walkable 6 blocks?) for nighttime entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for the new prototype room.

My husband and I stayed here for one night during the winter. For how cheap the room was, we didn't expect much and were very surprised at how nice it was. Our room was outdated but very clean. Our king size bed was surprisingly comfortable. The in-room heater worked great. The spa was well maintained. The employees at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful. Our big bulky TV in the room did not work and without hesitation or losing the smile on their face, the front desk attendent offered to give us a different room. We did not make it to their continental breakfast so I can't rate that. The location of the hotel is a quick walk to the casinos and the beach. The only downsides to this hotel were: how tiny their towels were (the 'large' towel didn't even cover from my top to bottom and I'm a tiny lady), and some of the rooms are across the road and down a block from the check in office, breakfast, spa and pool. So, prehaps bring your own towel and if you need to borrow their hairdryer, pick it up before you shower so you don't have to run down the street with a towel on your head like I did ; )
Oh! one last thing, the walls are paper thin. You can hear EVERYTHING. We were there during the middle of the week so it wasnt' a problem.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from a stair well and on the same side of the road as the office.

My husband and I spent 10 days there for Valentine's Day... Our 9 yr. wedding anniversary! Everything was great! Rooms were very clean, beds were comfy, breakfast was yummy, short walk to casinos and shopping. Just want to say, Mahalo! To James Clark and the staff! You guys are awesome! Only negative..... The thin walls and floors. If you don't want to hear stomping above you all hours of the night.... Get a room on the top.

I'm reviewing the post Kurtis T had written and wow! I am wondering if we stayed at the same place? I couldn't have been happier with our accommodations. I too have traveled around the country and have stayed at very expensive resorts as well as dives and everything in between. I found our room very nicely cared for and the bed was just as comfortable as the bed at the Ritz Carlton.
This is a town that keeps you hoppen, my intentions were to get a great night sleep because there is so much to do and see in the morning. I was very pleased and the price was amazing...
Regarding the recent review written by Kurtis T it seems to me that for $ 22.50 a person you should thank your lucky stars you had more than just wood planks and a sheet.
Thank You ABVI for a very nice stay in Lake Tahoe at a price that couldn't be beat ....

Room Tip: With so many places to choose from ABVI is a great choice by far for a quant little get away.

Thank you very very much for taking the time to post your wonderful review. It's such a pleasure to hear from the people that really understand and enjoy what we do here. It's no exageration to say 98 our of 100 travelers enjoyed their stay with us and found our product to be a value. Unfortunately most people don't take the time to post their positive experiences. However, most travelers that didn't feel they had a good stay nearly always post negative comments. This often causes the reviews to become unbalanced. Thank you again for helping to balance our reviews. Please contact us directly in the future for our guaranteed lowest prices.

This hotel is well situated in a quiet area, yet only a short walk to the main town centre for resturants etc. The room was spacious, clean and reasonably furnished; complementary breakfast was adequate. A friendly welcome and good value for money.

It's about 15 mins drive to Fallen Leaf Lake area - a wonderful walk and plenty of interesting birds especially early in the morning.
