Old property in desperate need of renovation. Walls, windows & doors offer no sound barriers at all. We were on 2nd floor, end room, facing front, parking and pool. We were with our 11 yr old twins, their first trip to Tahoe for our friend's wedding. A joyous occasion for all.
1st night we had teenagers next door partying, yelling to their buddies off the balcony shared by all on our row of rooms, doing beer bongs and smoking cigs & pot that could be smelled in our room. Going at it till 2 am when we finally had enough & called mgr. I couldn't believe she wasn't already aware of the racket. She tried to get them to stop, had to call cops. They settled down only until cops left. We all got about 3hrs of sleep.
To the mgrs credit she asked them leave the next day after she validated that the kids lied to her when they said they talked to us and promised they wouldn't repeat that night. It was ridiculous. Plus, the manager apparently refunded their money as she asked them leave. (What about offering to do something for those of us that suffered?).
2nd night she replaced the rowdy teenagers with what might have been a very nice family. Unfortunately, soon after getting back to their room from watching fireworks, their baby cried non-stop until well after midnight. We didn't complain, obviously not the baby's fault. And the parents apparently had no idea how thin the walls/doors were....They would walk outside on the balcony, we assumed to help out the people in the room with them, but it made it even worse for us as they were right in front of our door and the sound funneled straight in our room. When they would go inside, we could clearly hear through the walls, and the adjoining doors were even worse, as the sound traveled through them more clearly.
The manager, Chuan, (possibly the owner?) was very nice, however, we will NEVER go back there. It was a good price for the location to the event, the lake, casinos and shopping. However, not worth the aggravation and sleep deprivation, plus the exposure to cigarette and pot smoke. Had she at least offered to do something to make up for their terribly run down property, it would have left less of a bad taste and we may have considered it in the future, more likely if they renovate/update. At this point. I have no desire to set foot in any HoJo property. I'll stick to Holiday Inn, La Quinta, Marriott, etc.
