“Super Stardust Lodge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Have stayed there twice and both times were great. Went once in winter and once in late spring. It's located across from Heavenly and is a short walk to everything. There are two outdoor pools and either one hot tub.

My husband and I purchased our first timeshare when we were both working. Later on, because we love Tahoe and wanted a unit to trade should we want to vacation at another resort...U.S., Mexico, etc. This has been the best investment we ever made! NO..we didn't purchase for investment reason other than investing in seeing other locations! And where else could I (as a wife and mom) really enjoy MY VACATION by having a breakfast ready each morning, some of our lunch or dinner meals prepared for a minimal fee, housekeeping service as needed, and ENTERTAINMENT once a week by the fabulous Fabrizio! We can listen to umpteen songs that he can play on his keyboard and sing to while we either sit and enjoy or get up and dance, be it waltz, twist, line, boogie, or just "in the mood" music.

In the past 31+ years we have yet to find any accommodations and staff to beat the Stardust! Yes, some of the units are small, but we didn't buy to stay INSIDE. We bought because of the location, near shopping and doing other things. The terrific staff, including the front desk, housekeeping and maintenance have become family to us. The grounds and pool areas are always clean and the adults do have their private time from 2-5, while the children can splash in the back pool. The grounds are beautiful and have won many awards for their beautiful flower displays. No matter what our requests have been...the staff handles it with ease and the desires to please. This past year we have had to change our vacation times 3-4 times and they are still patient with us!!! We always use as much "bonus" time that we can, now that we are retired and we always see people that we know, no matter when we go! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, STARDUST! WE LOVE YOU!

Unfortunately, we cannot be as positive as some of the other reviews.

Pluses: the location is good, opposite the Heavenly Gondola.

Minuses: we were in a studio unit. It is absolutely tiny. The bed folds up into the wall. With the bed down, there is no room to even get around the bed to the bathroom. With the bed up, the room is still very small.

It was extremely hot. We were provided with a small standing fan, but it just moved the hot air around. We tried leaving the windows open to cool the room, but it was too noisy.

The noise: the rooms face into the parking lot and there is a lot of noise. Also, we were right next to the laundry room, and the maids started early in the morning (about 7am on Sunday morning) and worked late into the evening. So we could hear them talking next door to us and wheeling very noisy carts around, and also the noise of the washing machines was loud.

The staff: unfortunately, we did not find them friendly. Trying to get information about the breakfast/where the beach was located/renting DVDs etc was like pulling out teeth. I would not have even known we had access to a beach if I had not read about it on tripadvisor.

The "private beach": don't waste your time. It is fine, but there are so many much much nicer beaches around Tahoe.

Verdict: you pay a lot of money, and you don't get very much for it.

Room Tip: Avoid being near the maids' laundry. Very very noisy.

We are owners at the Stardust and were there over the Labor Day Weekend. The resort is beautiful and the staff is outstanding here! We split our time so were here from Sunday through Wednesday. We had an outstanding experience with Dolores and Sydney who helped us through a little "hiccup" in our room assignment. Jose was really great and always smiled and asked if everything was ok during our stay. We are so looking forward to our next stay!

My wife and I have been owners at the Stardust for 15 years now. We have found one of the highlights of our week is the Wednesday night performance by Fabrizio. A well rounded musician and long time resident of Tahoe. He performes for two hours on his keyboards and plays music from any and every genre. His high energy has everyone dancing right in the parking lot. Folks even join us as they hear him from the street. Fabrizio has a songbook to select from so you may have one or several requests that he happily plays for you. Songs from the Eagles, Journey, Bobby Darin, the Doors, the Temptations, Righteous Brothers and much more. If your in the area, please stop in

We love the Stardust in South Lake Tahoe! The staff make this an amazing place to stay because they go out of their way to be good to everyone! The "activities" they have during the week gave the kids something to look forward to. Troy in the front office was kind and came when we called to help with our DVD player. Karla and Fernando in the activities department were kind, patient and friendly and really good with the kids. Jaime was the best though! We watched him respectfully deal with people who weren't very respectful to him! He went out of his way to take care of each guest and interact with us. He was fun, respectful, professional, kind and polite. Thanks so much Jaime for helping make our family vacation that much better!!! The fact that staff stay at the Stardust speaks volumes for the owner of the resort. Clearly, you treat your staff well and they are loyal to you and your guests. Thanks so much for a great week!!!

Room Tip: the remodeled rooms are especially nice.

I am an owner at Stardust (Tahoe) and came up for the weekend (Aug 2013) using "bonus" time. I opted for a studio instead of our usual 1 bedroom to save some money since I was by myself on this trip. I checked into one of the renovated (larger) studios and was amazed at the size of the room.

It has the full kitchen and bath and a sofa sleeper in addition to a queen size bed that has
curtains available to partition the bed area to be private from the other areas.

It was big enough that I will probably ask for this unit even when my wife is along instead of the 1 bedroom and save some money.

Of course all the "renovated" rooms at Stardust are beautiful and being basically right on State Line makes it easy to walk to the casinos and Heavenly Gondola.

Thanks to Jose for showing me some of the other floor plans and letting me check out a little late.

Well be back soon :-)

Room Tip: Rooms in the front area are our favorites. Close to main pool, spa and lounge.
