If you're ike me, when I go on a ski trip, I like to take in more of the mountains and outdoors than the 24 hour glare of gambling casinos. It took several trips to South Lake Tahoe to figure out where the best place is to stay. I've stayed in many of the hotels but for proximity, cost and quality the Holiday Inn Express is the best place to stay IF you're going to South Lake to snow ski. You don't have to drive up to the base of the mountain if you take the gondola in the center of town and it's not that far to this hotel at all. Maybe 3 to 4 city blocks like those that are in New York City. The hotel serves a continental breakfast that comes with the room that is excellent. For those that like the casino life they are just on the other side of the gondola, so you're close for casinos as well and you can leave your car at the hotel. Late in the evening the county sheriffs are out looking for drunk drivers, which is fine with me, but if you're inclined to over party a bit, (which I'm not), it is another reason to stay out of our car coming home from the casinos. There are a number of other hotel/motels in the area, but the rooms at this hotel are well maintained and perfect for a crash pad coming off the the slopes. ONE MORE THING....don't forget that Lake Take is becoming more of a summer vacation spot as well. There are boat rental places you can find on the net so you can go out and cruise and water ski the crystal clear waters of the prettiest lake in the U.S.

It is near to restaurants and stores. It has a Good free breakfast, it's very clean and the service is very good. The pice is 90 to 150 dollars for night. I was there one week ago and My husband and I really enjoy it. The place is pacefull and quiet. It has a free laundry machines and free soap for that. Ask at the reception. This hotel is great for the price. The rooms are specious, clean and cozy. The food in the restarant was good and the salads were fresh. I found the staff to be warm and friendly. The location was good and very close to Heavenly Ski Resort. For being in the full ski season, I found that the noise level and congestion to be very little, I like the fact that it was away from the casino traffic. I would certainly recomend this hotel to my friends. I think it is a wonderful hotel that would certainly accomidate families or couples with small children.

I'll start with the parking. Unlike a lot of other places in the area, the parking is free and right outside your room so carrying all the ski gear to your room is easy. The front desk staff are professional and friendly. The room was spacious and clean and the furniture and fittings were all well maintained.The complimentary breakfast is just right and there is coffee available just about 24x7. The hotel is situated just off the road, in the middle of all the shops, convenience stores and eating places you could possibly need and about 10 minutes walk from the Heavenly Gondola. However, if you are in ski boots that walk can be a tad painfull and take a toll on your boots, plan ahead, take shoes and rent a locker or use Ski boot covers.
The hotel itself is old but that just adds to the character of the place, I really liked it. It's quiet, well prices and well located. I will definitley be coming back.
