“South Lake Tahoe, California”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

If you are going to stay in the Lake Tahoe area I would recommend the Holiday Inn in South Lake Tahoe, California. It is in a nice area on the lake, rustic, & only 3 or 4 blocks from the Nevada border if you wish to gamble. On the Nevada side the hotels are casino's and it is a little noisier there. You are also within walking distance to everything from shopping to dining.

Room Tip: There is also a , outdoor swimming pool, indoor hot tub, laundry, & breakfast. It was a nice pea...

We had a choice of rooms. Upstairs close to the lobby, or across the parking lot on the ground floor behind the pool. We chose upstairs room 421. And we were very pleased. A large room with a Bay Window. A table and chairs to sit at. Very comfortable King Size bed and comfortable pillows. Large Flat screen TV and Wifi. As we were on the top floor the celing was high with whitewashed timber support. The closet was a good size. There was a large tiled bathroom with large white fluffy towels. Very friendly reception, good breakfast and free parking.
There was a little park next to the hotel. And there was a nice swimming pool amongst the trees. We did not use it so I do not know if it was heated. All in all, we really like this little place and would highly recommend it for location and value.
One down thing which is certainly not the hotel's fault.... Our plan here was to ride the gondola up to Heavenly which is only a block away. We were there in May. And we checked ALL the Internet sites beforehand which told us it was now open year round but no passengers were allowed on after 4:30PM. So we walked to the Gondola. Closed. Not even a soul there. Big sign that said 'closed for the season.' How do they get away with giving false information? So it was a wasted stop for us.
But we really like The Holiday Inn Express.

Room Tip: Ask for differences and options. We really like upstairs 421.

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel on our way to Yosemite. (5/30/2012) The location was perfect for us. The heavenly village shops and casinos were walking distance away. We had a good nights sleep. The bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. The rooms are in several different buildings some of which are set back in the trees. The room was very clean and well maintained. The bathroom seemed fairly new. The decorating was dated but still pleasant. The view from the room wasn't too good. There is a small pool and a small outdoor hot tub and a larger indoor hot tub which we didn't use.I loved the big flat screen tv. The breakfast was ok, the usual stuff. The coffee was good.
Given the quality of the room, the location and price it was a good value. The Marriott grand residence was only about $15-20 more but you have to pay $27/per night for parking. If I were staying longer I might have stayed there but I am glad we stayed here for the night.

The front desk service was very good.

Tip- fish tacos at Baja Fresh in heavenly village were excellent and only about $3.50/ each.

This hotel is in a great location, five minutes walk to Heavenly Gondola and village. Ski hire shops across street and great Applebee's restaurant two mins walk down road. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We had a two bed suite which suited our family of four well. Room had a lovely cozy feel complete with gas fire and fireplace. Beds were comfy and there were two showers in the spacious bathroom. Only gripe with the room would be lack of basic utensils in the kitchen area. Breakfast was adequate but as per other reviewers comments, dinning area is small and you need to get there early to get a table. Would stay here again if ever in Tahoe in the future.

This is a nice property in South Lake Tahoe very, very close to the Heavenly Ski entrance (4 min walk). Rooms are very cozy and provide all that is needed for a visit to Lake Tahoe. Breakfast was also included - tasted good even though it was mostly industrialized.

Room Tip: I would pick rooms on the ground floor just because they're easier to get to your car.

Stayed in a two double bed room on ground floor for 4 nights.
The room was well appointed with a large bathroom. Tv was a large flat screen with 30+ channals including HBO.
Breakfast was a hot buffet with a large choice set in an informal comfortable style.
Hot tub and sauna were in a well fitted spa style room, the tub held 9 adults so it is a good place to relax and socialise.
The outdoor pool is only open in the summer, other Tahoe hotel have their pools open in the winter. I will book somewhere else like Park Inn, Marriott or forest suites as their outdoor pools look lovely after a day skiing.

We stay at this hotel for 3 nights the first week of January 2012.
The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The staff is friendly and they show they care the hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a Hot Tub and Sauna. In the morning, the hotel offers a complementary breakfast buffet with enough options to grab a bite and hit the road. Would recommend it and stay there again. Free WI-FI!
