“You get what you ask and pay for.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

You get what you ask and pay for. I was happy with how clean the rooms are. The fact that room 108 is right on the beach a stones throw away. I enjoyed sitting on the beach at nite sipping hot cocoa. Being close to everything was a new experience. I WILL book this place again.

Was very happy with our proximity to the lake. We had condo 231 and the beach was right down the steps from us, and the lake about 15 feet from our balcony. Very quiet at night, and the beach is private, so if you want to lounge by the lake in summer (which we did) this is the place for you. On the opposite side of the beach, was a boat/kayak/jet ski rental place which we found very handy. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful, and you are very close to a bunch of places to eat, such as an Indian place (very good) and other restaurants.

The condo was fine, and comfortable, but you are going for the Lake, not the luxury of the condo. Felt a bit cramped, and almost zero counter space in the bathrooms, kitchen and night stands. Lighting kind of dark, and the upstairs bathroom floor had mud on it when we checked in. Anyway, would stay here again for the proximity to Tahoe, but the accomodations (at least the condos) are a bit rustic.

Room Tip: Condos are especially close to the Lake

The outside of the place is definitely displeasing to the eye but once your inside the rooms are ok, but the bed was very old and had a hard time sleeping along with the old structure of the building all we heard were the upstairs neighbor walking around all hours of the day and middle of the night, we slept horrible. The upside of this place definitely was the beautiful patio view. It's walking distance to the private beach with convenient spot to BBQ. So as I have mentioned earlier, it would be a fantastic place for a family to come and hang out and spend quality time together.. But for a couple like us we were expecting something a little different. And for how much i payed it was not worth it. Also would like to add the front desk was very nice and accommodating.

This hotel has an amazing spot in the beachfront. All the balconies look out onto the lake and you can watch the sunset. Absolute bliss. The hotel is not modern, there is a lot of wood but the beds are comfortable, there is lots of room and to be honest you should be spending your time at the lake. Well worth the money. I would stay again.

2 of us stayed here for a week in January 2013. It was our first time skiing in Tahoe and we chose Heavenly because we had been advised it was the best of the Tahoe resorts to use as a base for driving to the other resorts.
Lakeshore Lodge is not the fanciest hotel in the world (which you should not expect for the price or really in this location), but it is in a fantastic location literally on the lake, with every room having fantastic views. It is quiet and situated nicely for shops, restaurants and the Heavenly Base Lodge or Gondola, both 5 mins away by car/bus.
The rooms are a little dated, but are spacious and well equipped with a fire, TV, kitchen with hobs/grill/oven and utensils and a bath. We actually found it quite cosy.
The staff service is excellent all round, and there are safe boxes at reception.
My only major gripe is the 'breakfast', and the fact they advertise as B&B. It literally consists of some fruit juice, hot drinks and a few shop-bought pastries and mini-muffins - that's it. No cereal, toast or anything cooked, hence you either need to head out for breakfast or do as we did and buy stuff in and just have it in your room. It would be more accurate to describe the room status as Room Only.
Having said that we enjoyed our stay here and if returning to Heavenly we would be happy to go back, although we would actually go to Northstar next time as we loved it there.
As an aside, whilst in Heavenly you HAVE to go to Base Camp Pizza at the Base Lodge - amazing pizzas!

Though with dated furnishings, our spacious room had a kitchen, frig, fire place, and easy access to the beach. Lake Tahoe was literally right out the window. Maid service was included. The front staff were outstanding, informative, and helpful. Would visit again.

Don't let the location behind the strip center put you off. You can't do better than this in Tahoe: tasteful, comfortable rooms with great lakeviews at an excellent price. Staff is friendly to a fault. Terrific location, near the Safeway and Picchetti Winery (as well as Stateline). Even the strip center has its benefits: a well-stocked CVS, best Indian food this side of London and an excellent landmark for making the turn off the main road.
