“A Little Bit of Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2011

I have just returned from a great vacation in Lake Tahoe. I stayed at Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge and Spa - the views from this resort are unparralled - what a treat to wake up every morning to the panoramic view of Lake Tahoe and it's surrounding mountains right before me. The staff there are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. My room was so comfortable and I loved the Tahoe feel - I think these rooms must have been newly renovated. On Thursday there was an extra special treat - free live music on the beach as the sun sets - nothing like it - what a special memory. I vote Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge and Spa the Best in Tahoe - there really is nowhere else to stay.

We travelled for two weeks and this was by far the worst place we stayed. It was the end of our trip and spent the most per night here. What we got was a BIG disappointment. The room had a big enough kitchen but the living room had ONE chair and ONE couch for a huge room. AND the couch looked like it was bought at a thrift store with one side of the cushions unable to be sat on! I think someone else mentioned a small bathroom. I thought, no big deal, how long are you really in a bathroom. IT WAS VERY small. The bathtub and toilet were in a very cramped space. You could hardly close the door without hitting the toilet. And there was no room to walk behind someone if they were using the sink. But to walk into the room and see two pieces of furniture and old pieces was very disappointing. Yes it is on the beach. Big deal. You can only walk on the beach in front of the hotel complex. You can not access the pier from their beach. To reach the hotel is wierd too. It is behind a pancake shop and a strip center. AND then the way the bedroom is located, if someone walks down the hall upstairs you hear their footsteps ALL NIGHT LONG! There is no insulation and very poorly constructed. This would be ok if I was paying a Motel 6 rate, but we weren't. Don't bother with the sauna. Very cheap, almost laughable. Speaking of breakfast which is complementary, was also disappointing and not worth it. A couple of rolls, no cereal, no juice, no milk. Coffee and hot chocolate. Don't depend on the internet service.. not very reliable. I am sure there was more disappointing things but just reliving these things is bad enough.

There are very few hotels on Lake Tahoe. This is a great family lodge to stay. Every room has a lake view and the pool is steps from the Lake. This is not a "resort" type of lodge but a fun family place to stay. You can walk to restaurants, entertainment and to the casinos. I would stay there again.

Quick Note: This is not a place to stay for a romantic get away.

I love staying here! We've been coming for several yrs, with lots of friends and family and every year we love it more! A real treasure. I want to rexommend it to everyone but I'm conflicted - I don't want it to get too crowded -it's a real find!

I have stayed almost once a year at this hotel for the last 10 years, coming solo, with my fiancé, the husband and now as a family of three. The outstanding views of the lake from every single room makes this hotel a sure bet, and a no-brainer when it comes to assessing price/quality. The rates are very reasonable and you get to be right by the lake, secluded form the noise and turmoil of the town, which is however right behind you were you to need food or entertainment. Every room has a large, private (and by this i mean your neighbors cant see you) balcony from which to enjoy a quiet view of the lake. Some rooms have kitchenettes, which are clean and have everything you need, and there are a few lofts, perfect when you have kids who go to bed earlier.

The service is outstanding too: Dan at the front desk is kind, helpful, and will go out of his way to make your stay really really nice.

It does not hurt that there is a real swimming pool (where one can swim long laps) and a jacuzzi outside from which you can look at the moon...
I never go anywhere else in Tahoe.

Loved everything about this place. Thanks to Laura, we were able to get a condo for a few days. It was perfect for our family.
Outstanding views, great music on the beach and the condo had it all.
There are many choices in this area, but the Lakeshore gives you the total package of why people vacation here. Not just the beautiful weather!
And my daughter loved the spa. Another plus.
Thanks to the staff for all their efforts.
