“2nd visit to Lakeland Village, South Lake Tahoe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We stayed for a week, July 4-July 10, and had another really good time. The fireworks on the 4th were fantastic. We stayed in unit 442, a 2 br, 1 1/2 bath with a loft. We had 2 queens, 1 twin and one double bed, up to 6 people coming and going but only 1 couple so the bed situation was a little interesting. The 2 bedrooms are on the bottom floor along with both baths (next door to each other, a little weird). The main floor was EXTREMELY squeaky and noisy. There was no sleeping in if you were in the bedrooms! I would not recommend this particular unit. No access to the washer and dryer this time. We thought we'd be able to do laundry since we had a w/d the first time. We would not stay in this type again. The Aston Lakeland Village website says this unit and the 2 br, 2 bath are the same sq. footage and they are not. The location of the 2nd bath in the 2 bath is on the main floor, much more conveniently located. We found out that each unit in individually owned so there will be differences in bed types, decor, w/d access, etc. We were considerably closer to the lake this time which was wonderful. We utilized the complimentary shuttle and it was great. Employees at this resort are very nice and competent.

Room Tip: Request as close to the lake as possible.

check in was quick and easy ~30mins. Rooms was clean, but needs updating. there were animals poop on the sand and in the water shore. it was probably from made from a small animal or large bird. We stay here for two nights and most of our time we spent at the pool. We would prefer sitting and playing in sandy shore of the lake but the animal poop kept us away. The resort is a great location and not too crowded. We stay in a 2 bedroom town house. The bottom level is the bedrooms with AC. The second floor is the living room and kitchen. There is also an extra bed above the kitchen. The second floor do not have AC, but both 1st and 2nd floor do have heat. The town house is fully equipped with kitchen appliance and utensil. All you need is to go to grocery store down the street and pick some food to cook. All in all, we had a pleasant stay in the town house. The whole resort seems to be clean but it does not look like the pictures on the resort website. I don’t when the pool is clean, but I saw a piece of paper and some leaves in the pool and the next day it was still there? check in was quick and easy ~30mins. Rooms was clean, but needs updating. there were animals poop on the sand and in the water shore. it was probably from a small animal or large bird.

Room Tip: When you check in make sure to choose the room closest to the pool by the lake. The pool is a little...

Dear Kahunaboyz,
Thank you staying with us and for your Tripadvisor posting. My sincere apologies to you for your experience on our beach areas. We do have some wildlife in the Tahoe area that can 'leave their mark' on our pristine shores, but we also have a system in place where we pick up after these lovely creatures on a daily basis. I will be certain that we continue and improve upon this program to avoid your experience in the future. We are also continuing our unit upgrades throughout this year with all LCD televisions in our livingrooms areas, new furnishings and other upgrades throughout our units. Please email me at jerry.bindel@astonhotels.com if I can assist you in any other way in the future. Thank you again for your valuable feedback.

This was my 4th time staying here. We originally went for our honeymoon in 1982 and I don't think the carpeting in our unit has been replaced since then! We booked rooms for a family reunion and the differences in the units was evident. My sister's 2 BR was bright and updated mine was dark and dated. However, being right on the beach was fabulous. They could probably make some more money if they would rent umbrellas. After a couple hours you need to get out of the direct sun, which fortunately was abundant. Just a few minor issues, the drone of steam carpet cleaners for a couple hours was tiresome and a groundskeeper chose to trim the bushes next to the beach during prime sun time - I'm sure that was a task that could have been done earlier. We had no problems with customer service, although if you put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on to prevent an 8 a.m. knock, be prepared to wait all day for your unit to be cleaned (even if you call as requested). Overall we all enjoyed our stay, the location is perfect and having the shuttle service was extremely convenient to the casinos. We would stay there again and it's a great spot for large groups.

If you don't mind dealing with horrible customer service at check in and anytime you need help with anything, then this might be worth it. I'd say it's perfect for if you're fairly self-sufficient and want a central location with a nice beach. The rooms are pretty nice, a little old, but most everything is in Tahoe. I just can't get over how rude and dismissive everyone who worked there was. And this wasn't just an isolated employee having a bad day - pretty much everyone that worked there was awful and seemed like they just didn't want to be there.

That said, 3-4 star rooms and a 5 star location within South Lake.

Dear GPDubbs,
Thank you for your TripAdvisor posting and please accept my sincere apology for the service levels you experienced during your stay. This is certainly not indicative of the very high standards of service for which we are normally known, as seen by the many other TripAdvisor comments about our staff and service levels. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the other aspects of your stay with us, including our beach, rooms and location. Please email back to me personally, at jerry.bindel@astonhotels.com, if I can be of any assistance to you in the future. 2 bedroom 2 bath was awesome! Had extra bunk beds and two queen size beds in a loft! There was bbq grill, toaster, utensils, and everything one might need! Check in wasn't until 4 but we could use the entire resort whenever we arrived! The beach is awesome with water craft rentals just a 5 minute walk away on the beach. The staff was very helpful and overall we had an amazing experience!

We had a family reunion of 27 stay at Lakeland Village and we had a wonderful time. We arrived at 2 pm and were able to check in right away.

We had booked 3 town homes on the water. Our 4 bed 3 bath town home unit also had a loft that would sleep 4 and this was not one of the 4 bedrooms. Total it would sleep 14.
The unit was clean with a fully stocked kitchen and daily house keeping. My sister in another unit had some initial problems with a garbage disposal and they had it repaired by the end of the day. Our unit also had tv's in every bedroom. We didn't eat out much so the kitchens were well used. Beds were comfortable also.

We paid more for being on the beach, but we felt it was worth it. The only day it got a little crazy was Saturday, but it was behaved partying. Even shared some food and drinks. The kids enjoyed the heated pool near the lake (there is also one at the front of the complex). We did some grilling a couple of days. You can rent a gas grill from the front desk for $25 a day, they will deliver and pickup.

There's lots to do...we went rafting out of Truckee, about a hour ride from Lakeland, highly recommend ! Fishing on the lake, the pier is a 8 minute walk from our room. Lakeland also has a couple of shuttles that can take you shopping and the casinos.

Room Tip: Lip balm and sunscreen

The location is great but our unit #628 needs some serious upgrades. Old carpet, no BBQ, fake Ficus tree in the living room, cracked ceiling beams, thin floral pattern bedspreads in bedrooms like grandma would have, electric fireplace that didn't work. Staff was nice but for the price, one would expect more. (see pictures). Only one bedroom had a t.v and it was the old style (not a flat screen) and the t.v "guide card" they provided was totally inaccurate. None of the stations were correct.

Room Tip: These units seem to be individually owned. #631 seemed better and more modern
