“Finally an updated hotel, in a great location, that we can afford!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I'm sure we can all agree that S. Lake Tahoe has an abundance of affordable hotels near the casinos but they are all really outdated and just gross. SLT also has a couple of very nice hotels near the casinos that are ridiculously expensive. So what is a middle class family to do? Well along comes the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel which used to be the Doubletree. The hotel is located right next to Harrah's - doesn't get any better than that! They just opened and were offering a groupon deal in September, which i jumped on. And wow, am i glad i did! What a great experience! From check in to check out, everything exceeded my wildest dreams. I mean, again, let's talk about location. Right next to Harrahs. I came to Tahoe with my family, but i love to gamble. Due to the convenience of the location, i was able to leave hubby with the toddler and dip out here and there to get my fix. Since i was so close, no one had to drive me or pick me up and i wasn't gone for very long. I could bring food back to the room, etc. It was just so incredibly convenient! And to not have to pay a fortune for the hotel was such a relief. We got a great, updated room for $115/night! The room had three sinks - 1 in the bedroom, 1 in the living room and of course the bathroom. So convenient! I could get ready in the bedroom while hubby got ready in the living room, while toddler brushed her teeth in the bathroom. The room is a complete suite so you can close off the bedroom from the living room and not disturb whoever is sleeping in. The hotel staff were all very friendly and well trained. They offered coupons for a free drink and light snacks in the evenings and free buffet breakfast in the mornings. So convenient when you have kids. The beds were super comfortable. The rooms were large, clean and quiet. The hotel has a huge atrium which is lush with plants and has little walkways - which of course entertained my toddler. We also enjoyed the pool while we were there. It was a nice size and temp and very clean. They don't offer any floatation toys for kids so bring your own. There's a hot tub and fitness room which i didn't use but looked nice. Let me see...is there anything i can complain about here? No, there isn't. My only concern is that once they lure us all in and make us fall in love, they will raise the prices way out of my league like all the other nice hotels in the area. I think it very likely indeed. But we'll see........

Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel had a great price! We were shocked to find out there were no additional charges and that our room slept six adults comfortably. Also, free cocktails & a full breakfast for all six of us at no additional cost. Perfect location right next to the casinos and shopping and only a few blocks from the beach. Very Happy Customers we will definitely be returning to this hotel!

A very well maintained 20+ year old hotel. The one unwelcomed surprised was a $25 charge to park our car overnight since the hotel doesn't own their own parking facility. If you need to use a cart to bring your luggage in, you'll be up against a bellman tip. Ok to carry your own bags to the room. We'd booked a suite with two queen beds but were given one with one king. After driving for 10 hours any bed would have looked good so just let the mistake go. This is the first place we've stayed on our trip that charges for wi-fi - which was a surprise when considering price pay for room.

Hello Charles,
Thank you very much for your comments and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our property. Due to local governing laws we do not own any external space which is why our hotel is only able to offer Valet parking in our covered and secure parking garage. For our guests convenience we offer a combined parking and internet package for a flat $25/night that covers all devices in the room and can be added to your reservation at any point before or during your stay. We are very sorry that you were not placed into one of our 2 queens suites as booked and we have spoken with the front office staff so this does not happen again. We look forward to your next stay with us.

I have stayed here numerous times. Very nice place. Always clean. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast is included. Chef will make omlets to order. Not sure why they charge an additional $25 per night for valet parking when there is no other parking available. Should be included with room fee. Wifi is also not included.

It was a trip with the family and stayed in one of their suites. When we first arrived the people at the valet were very friendly and also got someone to help us with our luggage. Everyone was very friendly through the check in process as well. When we arrived in the room everything was very clean. When you check in they also give you coupons for happy hour and breakfast. Make sure to save these coupons as they will ask you for them. In the center court area/lobby it has a great fountain and many places to relax and enjoy some food. They also have tables in which you can play chess and checkers with the family.

A plus of this hotel is the location! It is literally about 10 steps away from Harras and Harveys Casinos. The lake itself is in walking distance as well if you walk down stateline road. The lake is about 4 blocks away to an open park/beach they made for the public. Depending on what you are doing and business there may be a charge to spend time there. You are also about a block away from the ski lift / shopping areas/ restaurants. About 4 blocks down the road is also a full grocery store in which you can buy any items you may need. I would recommend this location.

Room Tip: If you have a trip with the family get the suite. Most suites also have a sofa bed you can pull out...

Very large and decent hotel. Breakfast included and it's nice, better than a continental breakfast. They don't have the free happy hour like the old Embassy Suites had, but they give you one free drink a day. Watch your credit card there though. They either have a shady employee or hackers, cause 5 people in my group including me had fraudulent activity on our credit cards after using them at the hotel.

Hello and thank you for your comments. We are very sorry to hear that you have had fraudulent activity on your card and want to let you know that nothing has been found to suggest that our system has been hacked or that an employee is to blame. When the property went independent we decided to make the Happy Hour more flexible for guests and offer higher quality beverages. Now guests can enjoy their complimentary drinks at any public bar in our hotel during open hours, including our atrium Happy Hour each evening from 4:30-6:30, Echo Restaurant & Lounge during lunch & dinner, or at our outdoor patio as weather allows. This provides a greater flexibility for our guests to enjoy their complimentary drinks when it suites them best, and also allows guests to select from premium cocktail selections. We look forward to your next stay with us.

I must admit I arrived on Sunday at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel without the highest of expectations (after reading some of the other reviews). We were greeted at the entrance and our luggage was promptly unloaded and the valet explained the in and out parking and fees (be aware there is only valet parking offered at $25 per night-the adjoining lot belongs to Harrahs). Check in was fast and when I requested a room on the top floor I was immediately accommodated. Our luggage was delivered as we arrived at our room without delay. The suite was very large - the living area had a large flat screen TV and comfortable furnishings plus a large dining table for four. A wet bar was well stocked with a Krups Coffee Maker and choice of quality coffee and supplies, refrig and microwave. Bedroom was large and bed was comfortable. A bonus dressing area with a sink plus a large closet was a definite plus. The bath was clean and stocked with nice, thick towels and 2 bath robes. Breakfast was typical of an Embassy Suite (which this hotel formerly was) and "Happy Hour" was another typical of an Embassy. We chose to use our drink tickets in the restaurant of the hotel (Echo) and decided to dine there. The food was good (I had a made to order pizza that was delicious!) and the bar tender made excellent drinks, taking time that the Atrium bar tender does not have. Location is wonderful-in the center of South Lake Tahoe with shopping, restaurants, casinos and Heavenly Lift within a few minutes walking distance. We booked a trip at the hotel on the BleuWave Yacht, a boat that only holds 49 people. A shuttle van picked us up at the hotel and took us to Zephyr Cove. The trip included a nice lunch and took us to Emerald Bay, a beautiful place that is a must see. The hotel is older so the furniture is not new but was fine, the room clean, the staff was friendly and overall our experience at the hotel was very good. I would stay at this resort again.

Room Tip: I will suggest a room on the top floor (9). Our room was exceptionally quiet and the elevators were...
