“Nice clean room in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times during our summer vacation (twice when it was a Best Western). We have always had a good experience. When it was a Best Western they used to have a complimentary breakfast, now they don't. The beach and the pier is a short walk away. The rooms in the back have a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We only had a partial view of the lake, which was fine. They also have a restaurant right on the pier, as well as one by the lobby. Their rooms are very clean and they have a gas fireplace. Keeps the room nice and cozy.

We will definetely stay here next time we visit.

My husband and I wanted a weekend stay in South Lake without the baby. We booked a "Secret deal" on Hotwire and this was the resort it booked us into.

The positives:
RIGHT on the water, especially if you are in the back wings
Adorable interior of the rooms, very Ralph Lauren nautical
Gas fireplaces were very romantic, a nice touch
The beach is a 60 second walk from any room
The views are spectacular.
Reception was friendly, even though they were PACKED
We were very disappointed with our first room, so they were willing to switch us to a room of the same "level" in a different location.

The negatives:
RIGHT on the 50, especially if you get one of the rooms in the first wings. The doors face the highway.
They are under renovations, which their website does not emphasize as much as it should, so the hot tub, lobby, and one restaurant are closed.
The rooms are tiny. It worked for us as just a couple, but if we had of brought our baby I dont know where a pack n play would have fit. We had a king room, maybe the room with 2 doubles are larger?
It was LOUD. I think the building itself is older, so you can hear everyone walking to and from their rooms.
The reviews are correct, even in the NEW rooms, there are still 1980's tube TVs which can not be rotated and cannot be plugged into for hulu, etc.. This is super inconvenient, especially if you want to play kids' shows for your little ones. It also had some nice "snow" in the background on every channel. My guess is that they are NOT going to upgrade them, since they build nice custom boxes around the tvs on the mantle.
There was NO SHUTTLE, despite the website saying "Complimentary shuttle service to nearby ski resorts." The hotel is NOT walking distance to the casinos, so we were hoping to get dropped off at least at Heavenly to walk the rest of the way. We stayed mid-winter, so you would think it would be running (even though it is a low season for snow fall). When I asked reception, they said the hotel does not have one at all. This is a HUGE disservice to its patrons and encourages drunk driving because patrons cant catch the shuttle home from the casino and it is too far to walk.
I emailed the reception desk through their own website and never got a response. If they prefer phone calls only, please remove the email address from the website altogether.
No mini fridge, so you arent able to keep food or beverages in your room unless you bring your own mini cooler (which we did, for sodas, and kept it in the bathroom.

Room Tip: Try for a wing closer to the water, away from the highway!

We were in Bldg. B, 3rd floor, full lake view. EXCELLENT view of the lake. Nice little balcony with two chairs. The room had plenty of room for two with a king bed, which was quite comfortable. Nice gas fireplace at foot of bed. No fridge or microwave, but we didn't need it. Bathroom is nothing to write home about, but was clean and adequate. We wanted a view most of all, and this was great. Right on the beach, so I imagine it would be great in the summer. It was quite a walk outdoors to our room from the elevator. If you normally stay at high-end places you probably won't like this. If you're more used to middle-of-the road, this should be ok. We did hear people coming home late on Sat. night, but that was the only night we heard people. It was a ghost town on Thur. night, but packed for the wknd. We'd stay again.

Not a good choice to stay. I would rather stay at Days inn than this hotel next time.
Since it costs more, we expect it would good. But it's not. The reason as follows:-
1. I booked a Lakeview King room. What I got is a partial view of the lake only from the balcony. When I asked them if there is a better room from where I can have a better view of lake, the front desk lady said it will cost $40 extra.
2. The room didn't have a king bed. It was a queen. When I told front desk about it, she said its a different sized king. lol. King doesn't come in different sizes (ex cal king). I don't like people to be such liar on face. I will call that girl a bit**.
3. There was a old tv CRT. Compared to most hotels now days have LCD.
4. There is not bath tub. No microwave.
5. Noise : you can hear people walking on the alley, on upper floor or even the intimate relationship the next door is having.
6. I don't think after all those above things anyone would like to pay $150+tax for this kind of room.

Have stayed here twice - once for a winter ski getaway to Heavenly and one for a summer weekend away, this place fit the bill for both. Has a nice lakeside beach. Rooms are small but the beds are comfy. The bathrooms are pretty bad stand up plastic showers, kind of ghetto. Nice gas fireplace in our room. They allow dogs on the first floor which was a must for us. In the winter they ran a deal that included lift tix to Heavenly, ski waxing and storage. They're also steps away from the Heavenly shuttle to the resort. Would go again as the price is right but I'm not overly impressed with the place.

We stayed for two nights in a King room through a Hotwire deal. The bed was super comfortable and the room was well decorated and the space was used well. Our room had a table and two chairs, a closet, two-part bathroom, hallway/entry area with hooks to hang coats, and a balcony. The room was warmer and less noisy that other similar places we have stayed in South Lake. Even though we were close to the main road, we could not hear any noise from the bedroom area. We enjoyed the electric fireplace, convenient parking, and free wifi, and we were so close to the base of Heavenly. Only downsides were we didn't see a hot tub and the front desk staff pushed their expensive restaurant a bit too much (--they wouldn't give us recommendations for any other local spots).

Lodging in Tahoe during ski season is expensive, so when I got a room with a king bed on saturday night for 30% off ($100) through hotwire, I was pretty stoked on it.
Pro:
- Pet friendly (several people had their dogs)
- Nice fireplace
- Good linens on the relatively high quality bed
Neutral:
- had a hot tub, but was broken when we were there
- location is about as central as everything in south lake, but not walking distance to casinos. Across from a safeway though
- Price is fair
Cons:
- Parking lot view is underwhelming
- had a room on the third story, which is inconvenient for snowboarding trips
- Bathroom isn't nice enough to qualify as 'resort' level

I would happily stay here again as it is hard to find a pet friendly hotel in south lake that isn't $300 for a saturday night in ski season.
