“Enjoyable Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2011

I was riding solo on a motorcycle and got caught out late pushing the distance for the day. It was late May and between seasons (skiing / hiking). Chose it for two reasons it looked quaint and it was the first motel I came to with a light on. Earl / Lorraine provided me with a clean large room. Checked me in efficiently and gave me some quick info on the town for food. The interior finish was clean and though older just added to the comfort level, the hominess and "cabin feeling" of the room. Very personable people and enjoyed nice conversation over breakfast. Quiet time of year with only one other couple staying and when they left early I did not even hear them go. Smaller motel which when full during peak season might cause some to gripe out the proximity of others but it is all in your expectations. This was good value for my money and I would stay again if for no other reason than to chat with the owners.

“You could find better for the price.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2011

We actually stayed here to visit family. The primary reason we stayed here was because of its location to the hospital where we were visiting somebody. The service was decent, and it's an OK place if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. It's rather small but offers wireless internet and a small TV. The doors of the rooms are right in front of the parking lot, and the layout reminded me of the "Norman Bates motel". The service was friendly, but as mentioned earlier, the man (husband?) of the primary caretaker is not friendly and seems like a jerk. The primary caretaker is quite friendly, and they offered a free continental breakfast, which is always a plus.

“A Quiet Family Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2011

Our family of 5 has stayed with Lorraine and Earl many times during the ski season in 2010 and 2011. We ski at Sierra so they have a great location for us. We like that they are a single-story motel, avoiding the late night trampling on your ceiling! The other people who have been here when we have stayed have all been mindful and respectful of others, unlike some of the guests at hotels closer to Stateline. We have never been woken up by slamming doors, drunken fights, and screaming kids at all hours like at other Tahoe hotels, regardless of star ratings. Although an older motel, it is always exceptionally clean and the theme rooms give the place a "homey" feel. The complimentary breakfast has an assortment of bagels, danish, fruit, coffee, hot chocolate, etc., which is plenty enough for us to grab and get out the door to the slopes! One review mentioned how early some people get up. We are guilty of that! But we try to be quiet :-) We are usually up by 6:30 to get ready and head off by eight to get a good parking spot at Sierra, which opens at nine.

“Affordable Tahoe!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2011

A very affordable motel right off of Hwy 50, just before the South Lake Tahoe "Y" junction. Pistantes is a great place to stay if you want to avoid the crowds on the main South Lake Tahoe Blvd, yet it's not far from that area nor the stateline either. It's also great if you plan to head out to the ski resorts in the early morning -- we stayed here because it's proximity to Sierra-at-Tahoe was the best.

The rooms are very clean, but basic. Don't expect luxury if you're going for budget. The bathroom was surpisingly large given the compact nature of the room. We booked a room with 2 double beds for 4 people and it was a bit of a tight squeeze, but still manageable. Just something to keep in mind, in case you like larger rooms.

Front desk staff were super friendly and nice. Don't forget the free continental breakfast in the lobby like we did! ;)

Ernie's Coffee Shop is right next door, and a pizza place right across the street, so there are food options in the area.

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2010

I looked for hotels that had decent reviews for the most affordable price. It was very reasonable to stay here. The owners were very nice and accommodating. The room was very clean and cozy. The internet did not reach our room which was a bummer but not a big deal. My husband went to their open office area and used it there when I was sick. It is very close to the Lake Tahoe loop. Nearby to many stores and restaurants. It was very quiet even though the place appeared to be fully booked over the weekend. We didn't hear a peep from anyone around us. We didn't stay in a themed room but our standard room was great.
