“Skip Rye and take a short trip out to Iden...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Eaten here three times now for lunch and evening meal. Nothing pretentious about this place, just very pleasant country pub surroundings, a good selection of wine and ales and a something for everyone menu. The food really is excellent and is definitely not 'pub grub'. The service and presentation of their dishes is also very good.

My close friend is a local and a vegetarian and she loves this place too. On our last visit they were happy to tailor a dish on the menu for her.

Please check this place out if you're in the area. You won't regret it.

“Great little place - fantastic food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Ate here on Saturday 6th July as staying nearby. Pub and lovely beer garden was quiet probably as it was such a hot evening but we were made to feel very welcome. Menu was varied and very reasonable. Shared a mixed anti-pasti plate for starter then pork belly and home-made pie for mains all lovely. We weren't going to have dessert as were quite full but when we were shown the dessert board we could quite easily have chosen everything on it! Opted for Eton Mess - the best ever - and a decadent chocolate mousse cake which was so delicious.Would definitely eat here again if in the area. Highly recommended.

“Great pub with fantastic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Visited The Bell several times whilst staying nearby for a weeks holiday. What a find. !! Fantastic food each time we were there. Very friendly staff who made us very welcome. The food served would not be out of place in a top restaurant. Great menu and all food prepared was homemade. The desserts were bliss !. We all wished we had a great pub like this in our town.

“very good food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Without a booking we turned up for an evening meal. The food was really delicious and clearly made with care. Excellent service. Homemade puddings are a real feature. I would recommend a few more potatoes with the mains... but that's just personal preference. There's no doubting the quality of the food preparation and cooking here.

“Absolutely delicious food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We ate at The Bell during our recent weekend trip to Rye and could not fault it! The food was so good, we came back a second night! I had the Pork Belly, while my husband had the Sirloin Steak. The homemade puddings were amazing - the Profiteroles were particularly delicious. We found the service very good and the whole pub had a real family feel about it. Very good value for money. We will definitely be back!
