“A delightful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights in February and it was just perfect in every way. The manor house is large, airy, and elegantly furnished. We had one of the bedrooms overlooking the swimming pool and the beautiful gardens. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and had a balcony with an amazing view of the gardens and mountains beyond. It was truly magical. We spent a most enjoyable day sitting in the garden, swimming in the pool, walking the country lanes to the cricket ground and eating delicious food - heavenly!!
We watched the milking of the cows and had a tour of the farm lands -some high up in the mountains.
Ken and Rosie, a delightful couple, looked after us so well and so did their staff. We shall certainly be visiting again.

Situated in the beautiful Cowie valley, this guest house offers not only peace and tranquillity in magnificent surroundings but all the comforts and attention to detail one expects from a highly recommended establishment. The accommodation is spacious with views from every room over the award winning garden to the mountains ahead. The bathrooms have recently been beautifully refurbished. The home cooked food, with vegetables freshly sourced out of the farm vegetable garden, is outstanding. If you are wishing to opt out from the rat race for a few days, this is the place to go - to read, imbibe the beauty, be fed great food and relax. If you are wanting to go in a group, there are wonderful walks, birding, fishing and riding all on hand. Truly a guesthouse for anyone wanting to enjoy the comforts of warm hospitality in beautiful surrounds.

Room Tip: The "Green room" is especially beautiful.

My family and friends, seven of us in total, stayed at Cavers for two nights in mid-February.
There were enough of us to have the main Manor House exclusively.
I don't imagine that many overseas tourists would be in this area of the Eastern Cape, but if any of the few do stumble upon Cavers, they would find it absolutely delightful.
The guest house is set in beautiful grounds and gardens on a vast farm.
The accommodation is comfortable, if a little tired (especially the bathrooms), and the home cooked food is superb.
Worth a visit.
