“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2006

Wonderful stay! The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. The "FULL" breakfast was a real treat as was the evening reception. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shopping. We stayed 4 nights and will be back again.

We have stayed at Oxford Suites Hotels many times and this one was much like the others. Good service, good value. What makes this one a little more memorable was the refreshment area where the standard evening nibbles and morning breakfast are served. It has a nice terrace area along the Spokane River. Even though it was 90 degrees outside in the evening, it was shaded enough for us to enjoy relaxing outside.
My spouse and I wanted Tony Roma's ribs for dinner and decided to call ahead and just pick them up (Tony Roma's is located directly across the street from the hotel). We were pleasantly surprised when we were told that they would deliver them to us and we could charge the meal to our room!

Visited Spokane with my family to shop the three big malls for school.Oxford suites is a fantastic setting for a family.Ten minute walk to the Valley mall, fifteen minute walk to theaters, seven minute walk to crispy cream doughnuts, and a five minute walk to five major family food outfits. We couldn't of asked for a better continental breakfast.....served everything but the kitchen sink!Their family suites are awesome-lots of room and great beds.....hate to give up Spokane's best kept secret?!Their front desk will not "tell you a lie to get by"........they are the real deal.Oxford.........Sweeeeet!

After reading the reviews for both the Oxford Suites and the Best Western Pheasant Hill, I couldn't decide whether to stay at the BWPH with its pillowtop beds or the OS with its proximity to the river and the mall. So I stayed one night at each so I would know which I liked best for my next trip to Spokane.

The room layout, room size, and decor at each hotel is nearly identical (traditional with dark woods - not my cup of tea, but tasteful at least). The beds are nearly as comfy at the OS as at the BWPH. Both properties are clean, newly redecorated, and staff are pleasant and helpful. Both have a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker. The OS has a sofa bed so you could sleep 4; the BWPH has a chair with ottoman. You really can't go wrong at either one. However...

The Oxford Suites pulls ahead and gets my vote for these reasons--

1) WAY better breakfast. The Oxford Suites had a fantastic free breakfast -- scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes/waffles, FRESH salsa, cheese, FRESH fruit (strawberries, pineapple, bananas, apples, oranges), and also the usual cereals, toast, bagels, pastries, instant oatmeal. WOW! By contrast, the BW had cereal, a few pastries, toast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt (all gone), canned or frozen fruit (all gone), frozen biscuits (I guess the hot gravy was supposed to finish thawing them). No waffles, scrambled eggs, or breakfast meats.

2) Oxford Suites has direct access to Centennial Trail on the Spokane River. Trail is paved for walking, biking, or other rolling activities. The river is very pretty at this location -- not a pristine wilderness experience as there is an aluminum plant on the hill above the opposite bank -- but it is a beautiful stretch of the river. The water flows slow enough to swim in (if you can brave its cold temperature) but fast enough to keep it clean and clear. There were swimmers in it when I was there as there are several nice swimming holes -- no diving though as there are boulders everywhere. Kids would enjoy the chipmunks, occasional rabbit, and the fingerlings at the water's edge.

3) OS is across street from Spokane Valley Mall. Lots of restaurants (TFI Friday's, Red Robin, Black Angus, IHOP, Tony Roma's) plus the food court directly inside the mall for cheap eats. The Best Western has only Applebee's adjacent plus a few fast food places, although it's only one freeway exit away from the mall and its restaurants.

4) Zero freeway noise if you stay on the river side of the OS for the extra $10. Worth it in my opinion.

5) Oxford Suites has a complimentary evening reception with 2 free drinks per room, plus free snacks (when I was there they had mini sub sandwiches and a broccoli salad).

6) Breakfast room/evening lounge at the OS opens onto a rear patio overlooking the river. Very pleasant place to eat or sip your free cocktail.

7) The fitness room at the OS has a bike, treadmill, elliptical trainer, and a weight gym. The Best Western lacks the weights.

8) One end of the pool area at the OS is located under greenhouse-style windows and glass roof so while it's an indoor pool, one end is very sunny.

In short, I had no complaints about the Best Western Pheasant Hill, but the Oxford Suites was fantastic! If you don't mind being out of the downtown area a bit to the east, this is an excellent property.

We just returned from a weekend trip to Spokane where we stayed at the Oxford Suites Spokane Valley. The location couldn't be better - easy access to the freeway, several restaurants nearby, across the street from the mall and beautiful views behind the hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the room was very clean and well-tended and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. If you are going to be in Spokane, particularly on the East end of town, I highly recommend the Oxford Suites. I know we will make it a point to stay here again on our next trip to Spokane.

Wonderful hotel. We had a view of the river and it was awesome! The hotel is very clean. It is great because there are tons of places to eat and a mall in the front of the hotel and then behind the hotel are beautiful views. I would definately stay here again if I came back to Spokane. The pictures are from our window on the 5th floor.

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Oxford Suites twice and both times have been outstanding!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the free breakfast was very tasty and there was a lot of it (even on a weekday, when we stayed there) the room was very clean and the bed was ...it was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever been in.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Everything about it was absolutely perfect. Even the location was perfect, a very quick trip back to the i-5.
If this hotel is indicative of the whole Oxford Suites chain, I will definitely be seeking them out wherever possible
