“This place is GREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We stayed overnight at Lauder Store while cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail. Wow, we were truly surprised at how nice this accommodation is and it is made all the more pleasant by the genuine hospitality of Pam and Earl. Also recommend the home cooked dinner at the pub across the road.

My friend and I stayed at the Lauder Store recently and discovered a gem. Refurbished to the highest standards with lovely finishing touches such as lavender soap and home made baking. Not a spec of dust in sight!

Pam and Earl are welcoming, professional and attentive. A highly recommended B&B.

We were lucky to get beds at Lauder Store on 2nd January 2013. The "Store" frontage is an understatement. The accommodation is remarkable and recently completely retrofitted to high standards. Wood burning stove, sofas in sunny spots. Could have stayed longer but just off the rail trail and needed to head off (plus they were fully booked). Earl and Pam were hospitable right down to the home baking on the table.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We stayed at Lauder Store for four days whilst exploring Central Otago (by foot and by bike).
The accommodation is in two parts - the front (converted from the original Store) has two bedrooms (one twin, one double) plus a kitchen and dining/sitting room. It has a good shower room and separate toilet. This is where we stayed - and the beds were very comfortable, and the owners (Pam and Earl) provided lots of breakfast foods - milk, bread, cereal, fruit etc.
The back part of the Store (a new building) provides accommodation for up to 8 people - with a big lounge, dining room and full kitchen.
There is also a BBQ for use by the guests (which we used every night) which has an outdoor table and chairs - and there is also a covered veranda - very useful for breakfast!
Pam and Earl were charming - and live just across the road, and were very helpful - they also rent bikes, and were happy to take us and the bikes to our starting point.
Lauder is in easy reach of most of the Rail Trail, and is also a good point for exploring places such as Alexandra (and the Anniversary Walk to Clyde) and the Plains of Rohan (locally known as Poolburn!).

Room Tip: The front rooms are great for up to 4 people - whereas the back rooms are communal - so great if you...

Excellent accommodation at the end of a long cycling day. The Lauder Store has been beautifully restored and is spacious, inviting, warm and well appointed. Pam, the host, is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The Lauder Tavern is handily situated over the road and provides hearty meals for those who don't wish to put their kitchen into use.
