“Mangoes hits the spot everytime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Mangoes is a lovely and comfortable western food restaurant situated a little out of the way on Langkawi Island in the village of Kuala Teriang. If you aren't sure how to get there phone Michele at 60175898117 and give your handphone to the taxi driver so that you can be guided in.

I visit Langkawi two to three times a year and when there probably eat half my dinners and always my Sunday brunch at Mangoes. The food is great but it is the welcoming and pleasant atmosphere that is the real drawing card for me. Lutz (Germany), Michele (Australia), Icki (Bangladesh) and the lovely Christina (3rd generation Langkawi) make everyone feel welcome, whether you choose to belly up to the bar with the local expat barflies, or take one of the tables looking out over the the garden.

For Sunday brunch you can't beat the Eggs Benedict with Salmon, washed down with a Bloody Mary or two. For evening meals I have particularly enjoyed the T-bone Steak, the Meatloaf & Mash, and the Shepherd's Pie.

The music, mostly selected by the slightly nefarious and totally enigmatic Noel, helps set the mood of slighty off kilter comfortableness (if that doesn't make sense to you, have another Bloody Mary and try again).

If you are on Langkawi for a few days be sure to give Mangoes a try and have a taste of the island that tourists seldom experience, and the expat community counts on.

“Excellent! Great job for taking feedbacks positively”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Was there at Mangoes again tonight and must really say again that the lamb and fried potatoes were the best in the island.

Thank you Michelle for responding to my earlier review and yes, the bill were now itemized. I think you have the best fried potatoes ever :)

Strongly recommends this place if you want good food, excellent hospitality.

Good western food. Clean, quiet, small restaurant for dinner with friends.
Wiener Schnitzel & Avocado Salad better when in expensive restaurants

“A great hideaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

I went to mangoes with my boyfriend for Sunday brunch. The food was good and the ambience was nice and quiet. A great getaway from the noisy and touristy pantai cenang. Thumbs up.

“Christmas Eve Dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Booked in for the Christmas Eve dinner and clearly this is a restaurant popular with the local western community in Langkawi as it was fully subscribed. We had a nice traditional Christmas dinner with turkey, glazed ham, plenty of types of salad and side dishes and dessert. Clearly Michelle is an accomplished cook. Although we had a good time and food was good home cooking, in retrospect, we should have booked someplace else for Christmas as it would have been nice to have something other than what we could have gotten back home. The cost was RM 100 per person inclusive of free flow drinks, inclusive of beer and wines. We felt it was a tad pricey by Langkawi standards.
