“dinner and show at 3 nippers restaurant, a fantastic local night out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2011

Friday night 17th June 2011, my husband and I went to see Matt Zarb play at 3 Nippers restaurant..It was a lovely night out, the music was great and the fixed menu was tasty.
Matt played from about 5.30pm to 9pm with only a few short breaks. His show was easy to listen to and he made it interesting by telling us about the individual songs.
The menu was good also, even though it was a fixed menu.
The only complaint we had of the night is that we were seated right next to the exit door, so everytime someone came in or out there was a gush of freezing cold air....
We will definitley go again maybe next time during the day and sit by the pool. Its wonderful to have such talented local musicians available in our area.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Australis Diamond Beach Resort and were extremely disappointed. The website showed photos of beautiful rooms but the reality of it was very different. If we hadn't paid upfront then we would have left within the first 5 minutes.

Outside
- The front door wouldn't lock properly from the outside so we had to use the side door
- The outdoor furniture was rusted

The Lounge Room
- The cottage we stayed in was supposed to be able to house 4 people but in the lounge room there was one 2 seater lounge, no coffee table, a TV which had a fuzzy signal

The Kitchen
- There was tea and coffee provided but no milk
- A table which should have been able to fit 4 people but if you pulled the table out from the wall then you would not have been able to get into the kitchen

The Bedroom
- The slats on the bed moved and banged loudly at the slightest movement
- The mattress was flimsy
- The bedside tables had gouges out of the top

The Bathroom
- There were not enough towels provided for 4 people
- The water pressure in the shower was appalling

As other recent reviewers have mentioned, I don't know where some of the unhappy reviewers have stayed, and to think their comments almost made me cancel, so glad I didn't. Found the resort to be excellent. Room was clean, extremely comfortably and the linen was of a high standard. Reception staff were friendly. We dined at the resort restaurant on Saturday night and were not disappointed. The pools in the resort looked great, and I'd love to return in the summer months. Resort backs on to a large unspoilt beach, bit rough for swimming, however the patroled beach of Black Head is a short drive away.
Lovely area to visit and would not hesitate to recommend this resort for a holiday - perfect family destination.

Having read some of the previous reviews, we we a little concerned about what to expect from our stay. My wife's company paid for 2 days as a 5 years of service reward and we paid for the other 2 days.

Overall, the resort and facilities were great, and the staff could not be more helpful!

We had a 2 bedroom apartment although it was fully detached from the surrounding apartments. Each bedroom was clean and neat although there was a bit of dust on the pictures and venetian blinds. The kitchen was well equipped and the Weber Q BBQ on the veranda was clean.

The bedrooms each had its own en-suite bathroom and the main bedroom en-suite included a spa (which the kids loved). The hot water was hot and strong, and a nice selection of toiletries was also included.

The lounge/dining/kitchen area had a TV which had the standard free-to-air channels, a number of Foxtel channels (Sport, Animal Kingdom, etc) as well as 3 dedicated movie channels including a kids movie channel with Up, Toy Story 3, Bolt and Tinkerbell showing. The weather was pretty poor for a couple of days so this was a bit of a lifesaver.

The resort pool was relatively small but really well designed and equipped. There was a shallow area for toddlers, a separate lap pool area with a bridge over the middle. There were also plenty of deck chairs and umbrellas although the weather was not good enough to allow us to take advantage. A second kids pool was next to the Kids Club which is free during school holidays and weekends.

The resort is right on the beach which had beautiful sand and the kids spent many hours making sand castles and collecting shells and rocks.

On the last night we went to the restaurant (3 Nippers) and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the menu as well as their welcoming attitude for children. Our kids got activity packs on arrival and had a quality spaghetti bolognese (so big we took the rest home in takeaway containers) followed by a free ice block for dessert. Our meals were generous, interesting and delicious, and the staff were attentive as well as accommodating of our kids.

Overall a great experience and we look forward to coming back during better weather.

We have been a long time frequenter of Australis Diamond Beach, we were among the first to stay here when it opened and have returned nearly every holiday season since. We used to love the place - even though we do agree it is very caravan park like. The staff used to make this place awesome. We have noticed the recent departures of two of our favourite staff members (Tracey in reception and Paul who seemed to be everywhere - all the time), these two staff members made this place everything - nothing was a trouble, they knew us, what we needed and our kids loved them. Being a beachside resort we understand there are many maintenance issues - but surely the owners would have known this when the resort was built and surely the staff could do something about all these issues. There seems to have been little maintenance, and litterally no spring cleaning in the last 12 months. We understand Mr Gardiner that you are in the process of changing the linen etc - but is this the same change we were told about over 12 months ago???? We have been long time advocators and promotors of this resort - but times have changed, and with the absence of the people that made this resort what it was, sadly we will not be back. Kids club used to be fantastic - Mick was awesome - but now it is run by young kids themselves - where is the buggy and where is the care factor. The restaurant has also taken a down hill spiral, where everything seems to be too much trouble and the food itself is really not that good. If this place ever returns to its heyday (and has a really good scrub) let us know we will be back - but until then you have lost another regular.

After reading some of the reviews about this resort I was a bit sceptical about whether it would be a nice place to stay.

When we arrived, we found the reception staff to be welcoming and helpful. We were given directions to our cabin and when we arrived at our cabin we were blown away.

The 2 bedroom cabin was just perfect. Very modern, very comfortable and equipped with everything we would need.

The facilities were fantastic and the "tunnel pool" was loved by my 4 year old. So close to the beach that we could go for daily walks, and sometimes we were up there twice a day.

The resort was sooo quiet, you would never know that there was anyone else around.

All I can say is that I have no idea why other people are saying that this resort is nothing short of dirty, a glorified caravan park or any of other bad things I have read.

We will definitely be returning as this place gave us value for money and a break away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney.

Australis Diamond Beach is not and nor is it trying to be super flashy resort. It is a chilled out place to stay for a great family holiday. The apartments have alot of room in the living areas, are modern and fit out with great kitchens, bathrooms. There is alot of open space around the resort so it never felt busy and the facilities were not crowded. Our family spent alot of time around the pool which is a highlight and the beach was perfect for morning jogs and beach cricket.
