“couples nightmare- children's playground”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

We returned 22/02/11 .What a disappointing experience If you are a couple or in need of a relaxing holiday PLEASE READ THE POOR REPORTS ON THIS HOTEL EVERY COMMENT IS TRUE. I could write it all again because it is so very true.
A short summery- Poor quality food ,children unsupervised putting their hands into dishes licking serving spoons children running around with food , Food on seating and the floor, Hard to believe there was a child on roller trainers weaving round the dinners. The stressed staff appeared to ignore everything. The Pangea restaurant is a canteen this is THE NEW BUTLINS.
Take care in the infinity pool YOU MAY SWIM INTO A POO TURD.Retire to the adult pool where the staff give up on asking families to leave.
Thomson are letting couples and older travellers down by not marketing the Sensatori as an experience for young families.I am very sure they will have a different perspective on their holiday

Just returned from nine days at this hotel so everything very fresh in my mind. After the long cold winter this was a great welcome relief and the weather was brilliant.
First impression of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the ' Sensatori' fragrance hits you as soon as you step in the door. The staff were both efficient and polite.
Due to previous reviews about the numbers of babies and children we opted in advance for the Red Level and we are so glad we did. We were whisked by buggy in no time at all to the Red Level lounge where check in was seamless. Red Level privileges include a beautiful private adult only pool area equipped with towels and parasols and tasty bites served to your lounger throughout the day, a restaurant area where breakfast is served to order and also free pre- dinner drinks( all brands) are available between 6-8pm and a good selection of daily newspapers.
Red Level was worth every single penny to us to escape the noise and clatter of the main hotel but beware it comes at a price at around 100 euros per night. My tip is DO NOT upgrade with Thomsons who will charge over £100 per night but by emailing or phoning the hotel directly.
There is everything you can imagine to do during the day including work outs, Spa treatments, tennis etc. etc and truly excellent facilities for children. The evening entertainment was also excellent. They have a good Sensatori entertainment team who work very and put on some great shows between 10pm and midnight each night.
The rooms are spacious very comfortable with oversized beds, excellent lighting, walk in showers and Clarins toiletries and we had no problems with the maid service which was very good.
The rooms look directly out to sea and have loungers or chairs. The higher rooms have the best view. We had room 3090.
The hotels sadly falls down a mark for its location as there is absolutely nowhere to walk to nearby and the area is virtually all scrub land. There is the little village nearby but it is nothing other than a little village and not in the least attractive.
And now we come to the dining!!
There are six restaurants in the hotel. The main area for all meals is Pangea and believe me this is comparable to a staff canteen. It is noisy and there seemed to be children and buggies everywhere. We have two children of our own so sympathise with parents however some control is needed for the comfort of all guests. The food here though plentiful was often very bland, not always hot and frankly often overcooked. We ended up eating there as a last resort. The Market Grill was also grubby and we particularly noticed that staffs uniforms in these two places were often not clean as was the general feel of both these places.
There are two other restaurants, Calima , Michelin starred and Nami Japanese, but the package with Sensatori only gives a discount of 20% and the rest is made up by the guest and the average price per couple with discount and wine is around £100!
Our favourite was the Club Ocean which is essentially Italian and the food here was really good. As with all restaurants drinks are included with your meal however tea and coffee is not and a cup of tea will knock you back around 5 euros!!
The difficulty with dining is the booking procedure and booking for anything other than Pangea which is a free for all, is essential.
Booking is self service by the use of machines dotted throughout the hotel. They open at 7-30am and you can book for up to 24 hours in advance and you will get your booking receipt but you really do have to get in smart otherwise you will only be left with dining slots after 9-30pm. This again was an added bonus of Red Level as restaurants can be booked through reception and they are very good and getting cancellations!
All in all in our opinion food was a very big let down and certainly in none of the places we ate in could it ever be considered to be of five star standard.
So would we recommend this hotel to our friends, probably not. If Thomson, who own Sensatori continue to advertise this as a 5T rating they really do seriously need to up their game in the dining as it is just not in the running at the moment and overall we would only rate it as 4 star.
The hotel facilities are excellent and we did have a thoroughly relaxing and most enjoyable holiday but in honest are unlikely to return as it was frankly not five star standard and therefore value for money. Please do get in touch with me if you want any further information.

Still here at hotel but felt I had to add my comments (never usually comment on anything but thought it may deter anyone wasting their hard earned cash asap)

Not going to go into extensive narrative but bullet points as follows :

Good points :

Nice looking hotel.
Clean
Rooms okay

Bad points :

Terrible location absolutely nothing around the hotel.
Food well below average and every nite the same theme. Bland and tasteless. As previous comments very difficult to get a glass of wine topped up.
Drinks expensive.
Infinity pool absolutely freezing despite being advertised as heated... No wonder it's deserted.
Staff on the whole are miserable.
Come nite time nothing to keep the kids entertained. All kids entertainment at any level finishes at nine pm. Ie you can't take the kids in any other bar area after this time except for theatre which has shows that are mediocre and don't start until at least 10 pm.

In a nutshell the hotel doesn't know it's clientele and who it is aiming at (a bad mix of families and then the old people who think they are a cut above the rest (ten bob millionaires i think theyre called).
Definitely not a five star by any stretch of the imagination......3 star max!!!! I think anyone who thinks it is hasn't got a clue and is probably
used to a b&b on the west cost of England.

Expensive too...don't mind paying for it if it's worth it but this isn't. Spend your money elsewhere.

We stayed here for a week, and what a treat it was! Arriving into the most beautiful reception/lobby area our first impression was WOW! Beautiful decor and furnishings everywhere you looked. Around every corner is something lovely to look at, modern simplistic and very classy with luxury furnishings everywhere. The staff at the hotel were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and with a variety of restaurants there is something for everyone. No point talking about food as everyone likes something different, all I can say is use Pangea for breakfast and lunch or the market grill but dinner at the Italian is lovely, just pay a little extra from the usual menu thats included with Full board Plus with Thomson Sensatori. The Japanese restaurant is over priced with staff that struggle to understand English and very slow service, we only tried it the once but returned to Italian most evenings of our holiday. The chill out zone is out of this world, after a day at the fantastic lagoon size infinity pool lazing on our favourite Verve Cliquot champagne bed number 21 where better to finish the day than in the chill out with an iced Mojito watching the sun go down!!! Our room was a suite which comes as standard with Thomson and we cannot say a bad word about it. Beautifully presented hotel with staff who smile and greet you with a hand on the heart, such a nice change to have hotel staff that actually smile and cater to your every need. I just need to add if you can splash out on a treatment at the spa have a hot stone massage, it was absolutely fab and after returning to the bali bed for a glass of champers................... what more can I say. If you want a bit of luxury with total and complete relaxation give this place a go. Stayed in many hotels rated as 5 star and none of them touch thisone. Have a look at my photo's, they say it all............!

The hotel itself is big&beutifull but the arrogant attitude of the management spoiled our holiday. If you have a problem in this hotel do not bother to make a complaint; alhough the staff is mainly polite except the redlevel reception, the management does not know the word customer service.

lovely hotel ,getting your wine glass filled at meal times was hard work, food was good
the down side was too many children and prams everywhere ,you had too move when enjoying a meal to let them pass and lots running about when carrying hot food.not a pleasure at all and lots of other people made the same complaint.i am a grandma
myself and love children but certainly dont want to be surrrounded by them on holiday.
also lots of walking as large hotel not for anyone with walking problems.

After a horrendous 6 monnths ( Lucky to still be here!) we booked the Sensatori as we were unable to travel to our usual destinations further afield. Excellent - excellent value for money. If people think they can get better overall value at similar hotels then let them go there. The only gripe was the Market Grill which was not up to standard of the other restaurants. Stayed 11 days and found something different every day to eat quite easily, the only people I heard complaining about the food were the ones walking round with a burger on their plate, need I say more! It was just what we booked and we got got what we expected and more.
