“WOW ! stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Where do I start ... Stunnning surroundings, total relaxation, exceptional room, excellent food.

We had a deluxe garden room which included the Bali bed. Tea / coffee provided, all toiletries were replenished regularly. Lighting system as previously mentioned was confusing but beautiful and tranquil - defiantly mood lighting. Hairdryer - take your own if you want any heat ! Huge Beds ... To encourage green approach they offer 20€ everyday you choose not to have your room cleaned.

Restaurants - booking system in place to book tables (apart from the Pangea) we didn't experience any difficulty in obtaining a resevervation could also choose whether to sit in or outside.

Amazing scenery within the hotel surroundings, beautiful fountains, mood lighting, day beds galore - real relaxation.

Unsure if the All Inclusive package was worth it in monetry value - no waiter service around the pool side however this did not really concern or bother us, we did get waiter service on the terrace in the evening.
Full Board included beers / house wines / squash and water with all meals and sparkling wine with breakfast so you would have to weigh this up from a personal point of view.

The hotel cleanliness, surroundings far out weigh that you may have to queue for a drink.

Fresh beach towels everyday. As a treat we had a Bali bed by the poolside with champagne which included sun cream, paper, fruit and snacks. 95€ well worth the money !

Dress code - quite relaxed apart from one restaurants which required men to be in long sleeved shirts and trousers.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful week at this resort. There were a couple of niggles initially with our room when we arrived but these were sorted out almost immediately by the Sensatori rep and the hotel staff. We have nothing but praise for the Sensatori staff, the hotel staff, the 'wow' factor of the resort, hotel rooms and restaurants. Evening entertainment is a little disappointing as the shows were mostly good but a little short in duration. The backing music did sometimes drown out the singers! There was a pleasant walk to the local town if you wanted to walk off the fabulous meals or if you wanted to go further there's a very good and cheap bus service within a 5 minute walk from the resort. It's hard to believe that some of the reviewers find so much to complain about - just enjoy it!

Just returned form a week in September, booked through Thomson Sensatori on full board basis.
Hotel reception and interior quite spectacular with water features that are fountains at night. Travelled with a 2 year old so didnt experience all the facilities the hotel had to offer like the spa or the evening entertainment and some of the restaurants which on certain nights were adults only (understandable) Room facilities were of a high standard and cleaned every day, had a good incentive to offer money off vouchers of 20 euros per night to spend in resort if you didnt have the room cleaned every day. Didnt have a stocked mini bar but you could order this and pay for it, usually used to there being a stocked mini bar in a 5 star hotel.
The large pool is extremely salty so spent most of our time around the family pool which was very deep, there is also a pirate pool for children which is much quieter and much shallower. Could hire Bali beds for your time in the resort at a cost of 50 euros per day but if you buy 2 days the 3rd is free and within that price you get a choice of drinks, fruit, water etc but there was never any shortage of sun beds. the only downside to the Bali beds is that they have painted wooden frames and the resin/paint got so hot it stated to melt and got on some of our clothes which wouldnt come out.
The service in the Pangea restaurant is very good and we never had to wait for drinks, some of the food was a bit repetitive and similar but there was a lot of choice and different options so you could always find something you liked, even for a 2 year old.
they have dedicated Sensatori reps at this hotel, but didnt really see the point as any quereies they had to refer to the main reception in the hotel.
Also used the gym whilst there and dont know if the air conditioning was broken or just not installed but it was unbearable
Overall the holiday was very enjoyable and would definately return, possibly not with a 2 year old so we could sample the full extent the hotel had to offer.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week's stay at the Sensatori Tenerife Hotel.
We had an excellent holiday, the hotel is amazing, very clean, lovely water features, amazing infinity pool.

Pros
1. All inclusive is a must if you are planning on drinking a lot - I asked thompson several times what was included, just to make sure. When we arrived we were given a list of all the drinks that were allowed. Local beer which my boyfriend was happy with, white wine, rose and red, sparkling wine, cocktails such as Pina Colada, Mojito, Blue Lagoon, Cava Cocktail, Margarita, Gin Fizz, Long Island ice tea and a couple more. All soft drinks, such as bottled water coke etc.. and also ice cream and ice lollies.
Now I had read previously that if you are all inclusive then you are not allowed waiter service, we were happy with this as we enjoyed a stroll to the bar to get a drink whilst sunbathing. But through out the whole stay I only saw a waiter TWICE walking around the pool area! However during the evening it was different, one of the waiters actually told us 'during the day you come to the bar, but during the night you are the same as everyone else'... meaning we should sit down and he will come over and serve us drinks. Wel I felt like saying 'surely we are the same as everyone else anyway, the only difference is that we have paid for our drinks upfront'!!!

2. Plenty of bars, 5 overall, Nemo's Bar is very nice with an excellent pianist most nights. The club ocean terrace bar also, however we noticed you had to get here very early to get a seat especially if there was some sort of entertainment.

3. You get the option to have you room cleaned or not, if you ask for it not to be cleaned by hanging a sign outside your door - You receive 20euros a day... if you do this several times it can add up to a lot, this will then go on your room bill. I went to the hairdressers, and we also went to the Teppenyake Show Cooking which was 30euros each, but was free overall as we only had our room cleaned once or twice.

4. Plenty of options food wise.... lovely. We thought the Italian was over rated!

5. A few children about, however we were surprised how well behaved they were. As we went to Senstori Crete last year and the kids were a nightmare.

Cons
1. Sensatori rooms - They have a red marking on the door! We had a nice standard room... the nicest most comfiest bed we have every slept in. However, we had ZERO views from the balcony, the balcony was dark 24/7 and the views was literally a roof made out of hay that went up higher than our balcony if that makes sense! Therefore didn't use the balcony!

2. We did notice sometimes that the locals seemed to receive better service, quicker service!

3. Be sure to check your room bill carefully, as drinks were charged to our room even though we were all inclusive, which they immediately corrected.

4. The adults only pool was ok for beds, however if you fancied beds by the infinity pool you had to get down there for about 9-10 which wasn't too bad, but we enjoyed our lie ins.

Very hard to compare with Sensatori Crete, this resort is bigger and nicer, however I enjoyed the food much more at Crete and we had an amazing balcony with amazing sea views!

Room Tip: Ask about your room beforehand! We were in room 3073 - awful views!

A well needed and longly awaited week at the hotel, all inclusive, booked through Thomson. Read all the reviews before booking and was a little concerned about the feeling of being second class with Thomson but i thought for what we have paid this must be wrong and theres always someone to complain about something! Well they was right.

Arrived at the hotel at 11pm at night. First impressions wow, amazing, stunning, beautiful hotel. Shown to room, garden room which was lovely. Niggles were: 21 light switches that create mood, well i just wanted an on/off button as usual and even by the end of the week and i am by no means thick, i still had problems and found it totally frustrating; patio door didnt lock, had it mended apparently, still didnt lock, complained to rep who said dont worry we never get any burgularies here, well our room contained some expensive stuff and was accessible by all the other garden rooms so this was not the reply i had wanted; i over heard the same rep, when being asked if she was the Thomson rep, saying we dont do Thomson here we are sensatori !, no swimwear hanger; no mini bar, despite saying it was fully stocked and we never got one; when emptying bath the drain in toilet flooded. Did enjoy the bali bed in garden which although was enclosed gave nice shade at end of day and fish swam right up to it. However the garden was not grassed it was brown shingle and a table and chairs would have been nice

The first few days here are a bit overwhelming, its so big, so grand, it takes a while to get your bearings. The grounds ae lovely, immaculately maintained, the food i cannot fault, it was the best we have had and always fresh, lots of choice and lovely to sit outside in the buffet restaurant, never had to wait.

We spent a day by the infinity pool but it is salt water which we didnt like. Plenty of beds to choose from. We settled on the adult only pool which was quiet. All the pools are excellent, gym vastly equipped, sports hub if you want that sort of thing. No music by the pool, no lilos and no bar near the adult pool.

My main gripe and what spoiled our holiday was the confused levels of service provided. We definately felt like second class guests being all inclusive - examples; going to the various bars and being continually ignored and having to wait until they had served all the paying customers before serving us; having to choose from limited drinks menu, whereas another guest who was paying has endless choice, asking for a beer and getting it in a wine glass (for a man) yet the guest who paying got it in a pint glass; no girly cocktails on all inclusive menu like bellini, dakeri, cosmopolitan; wine on all inclusive just about drinkable; going to the market grill for snacks and having to pay

Other issues, not a great deal to do at night, boring, nothing near the hotel, red level/member areas on full view but not accessible, no swim up bar, not enough bars near to pools, 50 euros for a bali bed by pool, this is a no fun, stiff, posh hotel and it doesnt matter how grand it is, there was disappointment and frustration daily and that is not what i go on holiday for. I certainly will not be wanting the sensatori experience ever again and for the first time ever i didnt say at the end of my holiday " i dont want to go home". Thomson/Sensatori/Gran Melia need to sort this divide feeling out, it is blatantly clear for all to see and makes for an uncomfortable holiday. Any conversation i heard from other guests were exactly the same so we were not alone. Roll on next year when i know i can get a better experience at half the price.

Like the other reviews the full board option was hard work on times to get drinks, and Sensatori guests do seem to come low downin the pecking order, BUT, it is still a wonderful holiday, fantastic hotel, stunning rooms, lovely food, just need to wait a little for the drinks, but you are on hols, so what's the rush?!

You will enjoy this beautiful hotel, don't rely on evening entertainment, go relax and enjoy time with your partner

This hotel is what you would expect of a Gran Melia property. About a hour taxi ride (50 euros) from Tenerife South, this hotel is a large, impactfull, elegant resort with an amazing back drop to provide an excellent location for your holiday.

We stayed in the Red Level part and yes there is a marked difference between the service in Red Level and the rest of the resort.

The staff in Red Level make you feel special and can not do enough for you. The pace at Red Level is remarkably slower and peaceful compared to the rest of the resort.

My thoughts on the rest of the resort is that is it still really nice but its busy - over 600 rooms and lots of people (and kids!). Service in the restaurants is impersonale and rushed although the food is of a good standard. There are plenty of restaurants and choice.

At Red Level you have your own restaurant for free drinks in the evening for an hour, lunch and breakfast - you also get longer to take your breakfast. You also get your own pool - and no kids are allowed.

All in all I think this is an excellent property and one we may come back to when we have kids to stay in the larger non Red Level area - the standard of facilities are 5 star - every corner there is a lovely feature but if you are looking for truly 5* service then go Red Level.

For a European 5* - this is as close as we have ever got.
