“The most arrogant and unprofessional service possible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

The only good thing about this place is the view. After booking a table at 19:00 (we were told the kitchen would open at this time), we arrived a little early because we knew we could wait on the terrace. We got our drinks from a waiter who attempted to speak English, but kept switching to Spanish. We live here and we speak Spanish so this is not really a problem, but if the waiter keeps switching to a language he does not command it gets annoying, so in the end we ordered our drinks in Spanish. At 18:50 we asked for the menu which was delivered without any suggestion or comment. We wanted to order another drink, there were at least 3 waiters running around the place, but we failed to get anyone's attention for a full 30 minutes after receiving the menu. At 19:20 nobody had given us any attention and my patience ran out so I got up and asked the waiter if we could get service, he responded by asking what I wanted in such a manner that I no longer felt welcome. I asked to speak to the owner who informed me that sometimes he was the owner and sometimes not and his body language told me that he did not care at all. He asked me what my problem was, I did not bother to answer. We left and had dinner at Restaurant Lupulo on the square in Alcala, a much more professional kitchen and service.
We had visited Sauco before when they just opened, the difference is service is pathetic.
I cannot recommend this place to anyone!

“Better than the gran melia restaurants ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

We were half board at gran melia so tended to head out for lunch to break up the day. This place is seemingly full every day. High quality food really well presented. Great spot overlooking the ocean.

“Some service issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

We were recommended to try this restaurant whilst on holiday nearby, and booked a table for the evening, as suggested. On arrival, we waited for someone to acknowledge us...and waited.....and waited. The waiters were all very busy and were actively igoring us, as they weaved around the floor. No sign of any maître d' or anything. Eventually, after what must have been a good 5 minutes, we were shown to out table. It then took another 25 monutes before anyone came to bring a menu or ask us for a drinks order. not impressed. Equally unimpressive was the fact that the Specials board was just plonked on the table, with no further explanation of the dishes (which was definitely required, as the dishes has very generic names). Oh well....
What redeemed Sauco was the excellent food, and the very charming waiter we eventually had. We chose a variety of dishes from the a la carte and specials menus, including a Tuna steak, sea bass, seafood pasta and Iberian pork. Two of us shared the most massive plate of cheese, all locally produced. The house wine recommended by our waiter was very quaffable.
All in all we had a very good evening and I would recommend Sauco and most likely return. Great location, overlooking the sea - albeit down a very unpromising car-park, next to a cash and carry. Not a cheap meal but a very tasty one.

Great position overlooking the sea this restaurant has become so popular that booking is essential for lunch and dinner. Varied menu from pizzas to fish and steaks.

“Excellent quality Italian/ Bistro type restaurant in Alcala”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Difficult to fault this restaurant whose service, food and atmosphere were very good. A varied menu and excellent wine. Booking is certainly recommended as very popular and always appeared full and very busy. Little in the local vicinity to match and therefore understandable. Staff very friendly and helpful and would recommend a visit particularly if you are are staying in the adjacent Gran Melia Hotel.
