“The staff are the stars of this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

We have just spent 2 nights at Ettington park hotel. The staff were lovely, thoughtful, accommodating and very professional. We were staying with our 2 small children who had a fabulous time, especially in the pool. The hotel itself is charming if a little tired in the communal areas. Food fair. A nice part of the country with a lot to do nearby. Better pillows in the bedrooms would be nice for a more comfortable night, minor detail for most i'm sure. All in all a nice break. Thank you to the staff.

Stayed here mid-week and rather liked it actually. It's a bit hit and miss in places - some quirky little touches but you would forgive everything given that the staff are so willing to engage and are so fulsome in their enthusiasm and willingness to please. It struck me as a step back in time in some ways and was rather nice. Good value for money - nice enough pool and steam room complex, good food. Interesting and superbly OTT gothic building with great family history attached (worth a google of the owners to pass the time!) I'd go back.

I stayed here for 2 nights in April for a wedding and it was fantastic. The service from all staff is impeccable, the food was very high quality and the rooms are beautiful and equipped with everything you need. The only negative point is the cost of food and drink. The spa facilities include a pool, Jacuzzi , steam room and sauna as well as a full changing room with lockers and showers.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

We stayed overnight midweek at the start of April. We have visited Ettington Park Hotel before and were excited to return. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a really friendly receptionist and Damon the porter. We had met Damon previously and knew that he was friendly and very welcoming. Damon carried our bags and showed us to our room and really could not have been friendlier. He is an absolute asset to the hotel as he sets the tone for a brilliant stay.

We booked an Executive Room that had an excellent view of an old church and the surrounding grounds. The room was very spacious and decorated very well. The TV was massive and the bathroom was very stylish and clean. One of the selling points of this hotel is the swimming pool and leisure facilities. When we previously visited this was a lovely surprise and doesn't get too busy. There is a swimming pool large enough to have a swim, a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. This is like being in a spa only more spacious and less people - heaven! The only niggle that we did have was that it was a little dirty around the poolside area on the floor and the following morning when we went for a swim there were a few dirty towels left lying around the poolside. Apart from that it is a really relaxing extra added to a great hotel stay.

Breakfast was amazing with the choice of pretty much anything that you want. There is a great selection of cereals, pastries, breads, meats, cheese, fruit, juices followed by a selection of cooked breakfast. Breakfast is cooked to order and is really tasty. The service at breakfast is faultless and the waiters really do aim to please.

There are lots of areas to explore in this hotel and there are wellies/bikes available for you to go for a walk or ride around the grounds. It really has that spooky gothic mansion feel and is suitable for couples or families. We will be returning many times in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone. Handpicked hotels are a fantastic chain of hotels that really do have customer service right.

Food was good, service was great. What let it down was the quality of the bed linen, very ordinary and I expected better. Also, although I don't mind Katherine Jenkins, it was on continually from breakfast to dinner, always the same CD, drove us crackers!

Came here on Easter Saturday for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my 'special birthday'. Beautiful surroundings and enjoyed a walk round the grounds before being shown into a lovely Drawing Room with comfy sofas and tables and chairs set for Aft tea. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

The scones were 'to die for' with thick (not clotted) cream and jam, the finger sandwiches were good without being amazing, and there was a good selection of small cakes which most of us were too full to appreciate!!

All the food was served on 'slate boards' which was quirky, but to me it would have been presented much better on cake stands (we noticed that if there were only 2 people then this was how it was served). The first pots of tea were excellent and fresh but when we wanted a second pot we had a long wait to attract the waiter's attention and then an even longer wait to be served. By this time there was a wedding which was in the bar area and spilling over into the Drawing room so it seemed that most of the staff were involved with the wedding and there was only 1 waiter left to serve a considerable number of Aft Teas. When the tea came several of the pots tasted stewed.

All in all we really enjoyed our afternoon and we weren't made to feel rushed to leave - we sat in the window overlooking the grounds with snow/sun/wind outside but warm and cosy inside.

We stayed at Ettington park for a night during Easter break and had a really enjoyable time. The hotel is set on beautiful grounds only 15 minutes drive from Stratford-upon-Avon city centre. The rooms
was very spacious and clean, the only disadvantage was that the view from our window in Room 3 was spoilt by dirty glass roof top right in front which wasn't very pleasant and you'd expect this is cleaned in such a hotel. The breakfast was nice with good variety and options to choose from. A bit pricey but worth the money overall.
