Lovely quiet pub/hotel just 7 comfortable rooms. Good menu with old fashioned proper grub none of your Michelin portions here. The chips are to die for! The staff are very friendly and helpful which all adds to a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Rooms 1and 2 are the largest doubles 3and 4 good size twins. 5 is a small double but adequate for ov...

Stayed Friday/Saturday £130 per couple for B.B.EMeal. Very good value. Had a delicious steak meal etc....in a very busy friendly bar. Could have eaten in the restaurant - not so busy. Full English breakfast and a comfortable room!
Very peaceful and quiet location.

A nice country inn. Nothing pretentious or over the top about it - just a good standard of accomodation, well prepared food, a decent range of drinks and a reasonable price. The main selling point is the location - in the North Yorkshire Moors national park, and just down the road from one of the visitor centres. WiFi is available, which is handy considering mobiles don't work too well up on the moors!

This is a lovely country pub/hotel in a rural location on the edge of a rustic village.

Before I comment on the hotel, let me give you a warning! Your SatNav will take you across the North Yorks Moors, from whichever direction you approach, along unmade tracks with no passing places that would challange a 4x4, and the final approach (according to SatNav) to the hotel is down a 1mile track that is barely wide enough for a pushchair! So for the last 15 miles or so, look at a proper map and you will avoid all the narrow tracks and off-road bits.

Having said that, we were driving a tiny Chevorlet Matiz (fantastic fuel consumption from Essex to North Yorks) and we made it without incident, but drivers with a nervous disposition or no mobile phone (not all networks have a signal up there) should avoid the SatNav route. The main road route, avoiding the tracks and narrow paths is only a few miles further.

Those of you that like a challenge: disregard the above and go for it!!

Those of you with 4x4's, PARTAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!. Mind the sheep.

There is sufficient parking outside the pub/hotel, and the roads are so quiet you could park almost anywhere without any problem.

This is an established country pub/hotel. It is a little gem on the northern edge of the Moors, with Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' Whitby a short drive away, and the seaport of Staithes, Captain Cook's museum, an equal distance away. The Moors themselvescall for your rambling instincts, but wear appropriate footwear and clothing, and take a compass.

Back to the hotel. The main bar is just what you would expect from a rural pub, with beams and fireplace. The dining area is large enough to cater for residents and visitors. The menu is creative (but untried by this reviewer).

Our bedroom was fine, with a clean and pleasent en suite shower cubicle.

Breakfast was substantial, and we were offered as much as we wanted.

Check out is 10am, which is a bit early.
