“The best B&B ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

We've stayed at Beaconsfield Farm twice and on the second occassion my now fiance proposed to me! Carol is fantastic and helped my other half set everything up. The first time we stayed in the Superior Double which was a lovely room and very comfortable the second time we stayed in Swallows Nest (where we got engaged) and this was again excellent, with everything you'd need for a stay, along with it being a bit more private as it is separate from the main farm house.
The breakfast - either in the main house or via a delivered hamper is amazing and Carol's attention to detail is fantastic.
You couldn't get better for the location, as its easy to get to Wells (you must visit the Cathedral), Cheddar Gorge (another must!) and walking in the Mendips.
We will definitely be back - not just because it holds special memories for us but because we haven't found a better B&B anywhere else.

Room Tip: The Stables and Swallows Nest are more private as away from the main house, although these are self...

A special thankyou to you both for the fabulous review - you have made my day! It's sometimes difficult when doing B&B to get things just right, but people like you make my job a pleasure! My very best wishes to you both, and I hope to see you again soon! Carol

Truly a fantastic place to stay, having just returned from a 2 night stay Beaconsfield Farm is ideally situated to tour all the best attractions Somerset has to offer. We were lucky enough to stay in the Swallows Nest which is a converted barn to the side of the main house, this has been converted to an extremely high standard with all the mod cons you need to make your stay just perfect, and decorated throughout to a lovely standard especially the bathroom. We had a very large balcony with views to die for and easy parking to the side of the barn. The owner Carol is fantastic and nothing is to much trouble she really makes you feel welcome and gives great recommendations on what the local area has to offer.
If you are a breakfast lover you will not beat the quality or choice here, all freshly prepared and full of taste, this is not your general hotel food believe me, it is 5 star quality without any question. Its the personel tocuh and eye to detail that makes Beaconsfield Farm streets ahead of any hotel or B&B I have stayed at. It is value for money without any doubt and truly is 5 star, white company products in the bathroom, a fabulous comfy bed, plenty of choice for refreshments, tea, coffee hot chocolate etc, every little touch has been thought about, well done Carol this is the gem of Somerset and we will be returning asap, really liked our regular visits by peanut the Cat too who is a real character.
Dining out, our first night we went to the Rodney Stoke inn which was really great and reasonably priced pub food, but it was the second night that blew us away, Carol had recommended Beah which is located just off union st in Wells, this is a resturant you really cant afford to miss if you want a truly special night out, great choice of quality food and the hosts are just simply fantistic, really was to best quality and value for money all round, try the cheese board amazing.

Really cant recommend the above highly enough you really wont find better!!!!! if there was a sixth star I would award it to Beaconsfield Farm and Beah!!! Thanks Carol from Rachel & Justin Oxfordshire,

Room Tip: Swallows nest or the stables are fantastic, would recommend,

We just spent one night, on our way from London to Dartmoor. Beaconsfield was a welcoming place to spend the night. The room, the one with the claw foot tub, was comfortable and well appointed. But the best part of the stay, aside from the rooster in the back yard, was breakfast! What a way to start the day - see Wells, Glastonbury, and the Cheddar Gorge. We had a great night's stay here! Thank you Beaconsfield Farm.

Found this at the last minute and decided to book online after reading glowing reviews. So glad I did, not least because my wife loved it so I earned plenty of brownie points. Host (Carol) was very friendly and greeted us warmly. We were only stopping for one night en route to Devon from the Midlands, but I'm sure our custom was every bit as appreciated as if we were staying for a week.

Hot or cold drinks and cake on arrival went down a treat after a long drive. We sat outside in the warm evening sun, winding down after the journey and expected stressful traffic around the Bristol area on a Friday.

We had a lovely, very reasonably priced meal in the Rodney Stoke Inn a couple of miles away, on Carol's recommendation.

Our room was decorated very nicely and had everything we needed for a comfortable night's sleep - very quiet even with all rooms occupied.

Breakfast was spot on, perfectly cooked and with plenty of options had we not wanted the traditional full English.

Highly recommended. Will be our first choice if we are anywhere in the vicinity in the future. There really is no need to pay hotel prices when you can get holiday accommodation like this.

After doing a bit of research i came across Beaconsfield farm by accident whilst trying to find a place to stay near to Bath. What a find!

We stayed in the Stables which is seperate to the main house, loads of room to spread out and i mean big rooms! Very clean and so so cosy, the heating was much needed after the snow etc.

The lounge is great just for lazing around, watching dvds until we decided to go out and see Wells Catherdral which is only down the road - a MUST see. The town is so pretty and was surprised to hear that Hot Fuzz was filmed there, being the film buff that i am I was delighted to go into the pub they used as well!

Now lets get on with the most important bit. The Breakfast. Fresh, Quality and yummy springs to mind! We popped into the main house to have our hot brekky one morning and decided to have a lay in on the Sunday so we ordered the hamper....those Hot cross Buns were divine! and I'm not usually fond of continental brekky but we scoffed the lot.

Carol was a superb host and very friendly and those goodbye chocs went down a treat with the wife! It was a pleasure staying here and we hope to be back at somepoint in the near future

We have been staying at Beaconsfield Farm B and B for 20 years and we have NEVER been disappointed. The accomodation is excellent, always spotlessly clean and Carol provides such a warm welcome it's like coming home. The breakfast she provides is enormous, freshly cooked and made with top local ingredients.
There is lots of information provided about where to eat locally and trips you can go on in a warm and very comfortable guest lounge.
We have stayed in lots of hotels and B&B's and I can honestly say that Beaconsfield Farm is the best. Try it for yourself.
