“Butterflies and bugs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Its good to visit this very interesting attraction if you've been to Tiger Kingdom. A very short trip to it. You can walk amongst the butterflies, have the very large bugs crawl over you. Pick up the creepy crawlies that are used in films like Indiana Jones, including a black scorpion (brown ones are the deadly ones it seems). The collection on the walls of the various insects is amazing. The live ones even more. For 200baht entry a star attraction. We took our Thai drivers in as well and they had a lot of fun. Great fun and not crowded.

“Informative and Helpful Staff, but the collection needs attention”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We did a day trip to this area (Mae Rim). It is pretty well set up for tourists.

So we decided after reading the review to take our nearly 7 year old to this place as we saw it as educational. The staff were very attentive to our daughter. I am sure the blonde hair and blue eyes had nothing to do with it.

The butterfly enclosure was a great highlight.

My wife having done studying and collecting thought this a good idea to come. However, some of the collection has had moisture enter it and mold has formed.

A good experience at a reasonable tourist rate. Better than being asked to pay 1500 B to go into the Long Neck Village.

All the best

Good for kids they get to touch creepy crawlies.

“Insects galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

We didn't quite know what to expect when stepped into this museum but within minutes we were completely enraptured. Not only were the cases full of insects from around the world - there were live specimens too. From beetles to butterflies, to stick insects to praying mantis to scorpions, this place is a bit of a hidden gem.

We got the chance to hold scorpions and no, we were not bitten. The staff were keen to show us how tightly stick insects could cling to clothes and the praying mantis received a close up of our faces as we watched it walk over over our hands. We were veritable David Attenboroughs!

The museum offers a rare opportunity to see fascinating creatures that are usually only seen on documentaries and I highly recommend a visit if you're not squeamish about bugs.

“So many butterflies!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

I loved this place. Maybe the best 200 baht I spent in Thailand. The museum has several cases full of all sorts of insects. But the star of the show is the enclosed butterfly garden. Before going in there is a staff member who shows you various caterpillars. You can hold them if you want. If you like taking pictures, the butterfly garden is shooting fish in a barrel. Many different varieties all just begging to be photographed. I have several land on my hat and shoulder. If you are a butterfly fan you must stop off here.
