“A Comfortable Night's Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

I stayed in the Feering Travelodge for one night whislst in the area on business on the 26th March 2013. The hotel was clean and comfortable and well-heated. I was greeted warmly on arrival and the hotel was excellent value for the £37.00 it cost me. A pleasant nigh and does just what it says on the tin.

Without sounding too snobish we usually avoid the likes of Travelodge/Premier Inn/Holiday Inn etc. but we were heading off to Colchester on a spur of the moment decision to attend a meeting the next day and thought as we would be arriving at approx 9pm and leaving early the next day there wasn't much point in spending too much on services we wouldn't use so I booked this place en-route. We paid £40 for a good sized family room (double bed and sofa bed) for one night.
Having never stayed in a Travelodge before and hearing mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but it was ok. The room (No.39) was spacious and clean but very basic. Everything (tv, heater, kettle) though the heater was a small dimplex with no settings so only just kept the chill off, the room never really felt warm. The bed wasn't the comfiest but agin, just ok.
So all in all, despite hearing horror stories about Travelodges this one was ok, basic but clean. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. We didn't order the breakfast box that they deliver to your room, there is a Little Chef just outside the door.

We stayed here for two nights last December, The room was only ok, best to say dated. Reception clean, staff very friendly, As to wether we stay again the answer would be no, not at this hotel.food from hotel basic and cardbordy to say least and not value for moneySorry but as Ive already stated we would not stay here again would rather travel extra few miles to find better accomadation.Staff deserve extra pay to work in such dated decor.

OK I'm not comparing this to the George V in Paris, this is a Travelodge after all, it's cheap and we stayed for one night so we could go to a friend's 30th nearby. It's right on the A12 so handy for getting about, room was clean, had tea & coffee and clean towels and sheets, room was larger than expected with a sofa and TV. What made our stay memorable was the staff. We brought some wine with us and was asked if we would like wine glasses! Even managed to borrow a corkscrew! Honestly they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, would imagine the staff aren't half as nice in the George V!

Room Tip: If you want quiet ask for a room at the end of the corridoor

We stayed here overnight for a function. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. The room was large and shower was very powerful. We would happily stay here again when we are next in the area.

Ok for those of you who are not familiar with a Travelodge they're basic, cheap accommodation. You get what you pay for. The clue comes in the name it's ok for a night, somewhere to rest your head. Room was clean, TV worked, & staff really helpful. This one is right next to the A12 which is a very busy road till quite late. If you can sleep with a hum of traffic in the background then you shouldn't have a problem!

Room Tip: All on one level so at least no-one to bother you upstairs!
