“A very good resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We went on holiday for Valentines week and thoroughly enjoyed our week at Alanda Club. I had been nervous seeing as the resort has mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but I was impressed with the resort. We had booked a one bedroom through Interval International but were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment on arrival, which probably helped. The rooms were of a very good size and the kitchen well equipped. The main bathroom also had a jacuzzi bath which could just accomodate both of us.

Despite it being February the weather was good enough to eat breakfast and lunch on the South facing balcony, indeed I got sunburn on the top of my head. The indoor pool, jacuzzi pool and sauna was very good. We went swimming every day and we found the water temperature perfectly OK. The rooms also had beach towels and big dressing gowns for use in the pool area which was good.

The resort is really well locatated on the A7 and is only 40 minutes from Malaga airport. It is also on the 220 bus route between Fuengirola and Marbella, which made a night out in Marbella without taking the car really easy (though last bus is 23.15 ish from central Marbella (23.00 from the bus station)). There are about a dozen restaurants and 2 supermarkets within 5 minutes walk of Alanda Club, which makes it one of the best located resorts I've been to.

I'd also reccomend Fuengirola Market on a Tuesday, a bit more variety than most holiday markets and some great bargains (Pashmina scarves 1E, Polo shirts 10E, all leather shoes 15E) for a short trip out.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

I had stayed a couple of times before at the Alanda Club, both times in a two-bedroomed apartment booked through Interval International. So when I had the opportunity to spend a few days in the Marbella area just after new year I immediately thought of the Alanda Club as a good-quality apartment complex. On this occasion it was just my husband and me travelling, so we reserved a one-bedroomed apartment. I was very disappointed with the size, the view (over the car park) and the kitchen facilities. There wasn't even an indoor table and chairs where one could eat a meal.

We didn't make use of the restaurant or any of the leisure facilities.

The reception staff were quite cold and unfriendly -- unlike the maids, who were friendly and did a good job.

Just came back from a one week stay at Alanda Club. We had a really wonderful time. The weather was brilliant, nice and warm in the day, cool but not freezing at night.

We booked our room through Interval international and got a really nice rate.

The staff at the hotel was friendly and when we had an issue it was resolved promptly. The unit we stayed in was a 2 bedroom. Nice and big inside, three bathrooms each with a shower and only the main bedroom had a bathtub. The bedrooms are not spacious but they are not cramped either. Our unit had a largish safe and also had a security alarm panel which we only noticed on the third day and so we didn't really bother to use it. Not used to those kinds of security measures any more but it did make me wonder if crime was an issue. The beds aren't great. They're hard and even the "bed" in the main bedroom is actually two beds pushed together. That said, we slept well and was not uncomfortable.

When we arrived we found some coffee, tea, sugar, a small packet of dish washing liquid and dishwasher powder. In the fridge there was 1l milk, some orange juice and some bottled water. We we're well impressed with this. Another nice touch was the robes we found in the bathroom. They're not great but was nice to have.

The indoor pool is not always heated.

- There is a Supersol and slightly smaller Opencor across the highway, 5 mins walk, from the resort.
- The bus that runs along the highway is the 220. I don't think there is any information on this bus on the interwebs. We found the bus to be fairly reliable and used it often. I think there is a bus 3 times an hour or so. The bus also run fairly regularly on public(bank) holidays as we found out.
- Elviria is 10 miles from Marbella (€1.43 per person on the bus) and Fuengirola is 18 miles in the other direction (€1.92 ninety-something anyway). Shorter trips are less. We took the bus to Marbella city center (asking for "Mabeja centro" will do it) and then the L1(L3 will also work) to La Canada(Alcampo or Auchan as we know it. Proper shopping!). This was (€1.05). I was also charged €1.18 once.
- The closest pharmacy, which is also a 24hr pharmacy, is in Artola. Two or three stops towards Malaga
- Taxis are expensive. When we had to go to the pharmacy the first time we were in a rush and we ended up paying around €15 for trip that would have cost €2.10 with the bus. O, well...
- UK to South Europe power adapter is €3 at reception and €2.50 at the Supersol 5 mins walk away. Just so you know.
- The locks on the bathroom door gave me quite a chuckle.

Anyway, a nice stay.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a top floor room. The person in the unit above us was wearing heels and we could h...

So the temperature was between 12-14 degrees and it was the end of November, beginning of December. Most activities in the area were shut, outdoor pool water was ice cold, resort must have been occupied by 20 people max! The indoor pool was warm on our last night, prior to that it was pretty cold. Jacuzzi was warmer but not as hot as we would have liked! Sauna was pretty good, gym was good but air con seemed to only go down to 19 degrees which is too hot when working out, the stepper was dangerous! Staff were friendly, good 2 hour happy hour on drinks but don't order in the last 5 minutes female staff dragged out making the drink so had to pay full price! Only entertainment on 2 nights and seemed like you had to eat in the restaurant to watch it. I hope it's a completely different place in the summer. Would I recommend, if hot summer then yes but any other time no afraid not. Lovely honeymoon but was the company that made it!

Stay away! Old fashened. My parents would have been happy here in the 60ties. Norms of 2013 are very much higher and better.
Holes in all road arround property. Birds eating with us on the food inside the restaurant. Unfriendly and not helpfull staff.

We stayed as guests of family with time share so I have no idea of price of accommodation. First - the location. The resort is 30 miles fr Malaga - so u must either drive, catch a taxi (E60) or bus and taxi fr Malaga (E6+E20). It is a 10 minute bus fr Marbella; book a car BEFORE u leave -E60 per week- at resort a car E60 per day. Buses to Marbella about every 20 mins. If u had a car more things to do ie Gibralta only 1 hour. but of u want to sit at pool then no need. fairly limited eating - hotel restaurant great b'fast and non-Spanish food. Tho paella was really quite good.

Rooms - we had 2-bed apartment. Large!!! Washer and dryer room off our kitchen. Even a dining room. Fab large balcony. Shower in second ensuite SMALL - def one person only and could not bend over without dripping water outside.

Grounds fantastic; pools luxurious; buildings impressive in size= grandeur; immaculately clean. Room serviced twice a week.

Hotel staff tended not to be friendly but okay.

this time share was just too far out of the way for us to drive daily to Granada, Cordoba, Ronda and Jerez. The 3 days of pouring rain, ants in the bathroom, incredibly uncomfortable beds (twin beds with thin mattresses), unforgiving pillows, uncomfortable couch and chair were just bummers. I had no place to get comfortable and did not have one good night of sleep out of 7 there. The food was good, the dining and bar staff attentive and fun. The front desk reception was mixed. They did not greet us upon arriving and departing and one of the women was just chilly and not helpful. The jacuzzi and indoor pool looked murky to me and we did not once go in. The outdoor pool looked pretty but was very cold and then it starting raining. I can't recommend this place. I'm very sorry the Marriott was booked.

Room Tip: book the marriott given the chance
