4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

just spent 2 days here at a conference with Citroen u.k.

great location close to Bristol and Weston super Mare , had a lovely room with a super shower.

the evening meal our party had was fabulous and the breakfast today excellent.

unfortunately did not have time to visit the spa.

I first had to conquer the hill to reception, with COPD I was knackered on arrival, then had to find the room along darkly lit corridors and a lift which was on a 'go slow' mission! Bedroom was being blasted by a hotel TV station loud enough to blow wax out of your ears. The bedroom was a good size, beds were hard except for a hollow running down the centre of each bed. Spent most of the night rolling down to the middle and listening to the planes - yes it's on a flight path to Bristol! Breakfast was good quality except no chance of having Corn Flakes, Frosties or Shreddies - just the new 'good for you' cereals - yuk! Orange juice was weak, coffee was good but no-one refilled my mug, all too busy. A full breakfast was delivered, fried egg too hard, black pudding too dry but rest was OK. It would be good to return to a buffet so I could choose what I wanted!. Overall it was a fairly good hotel, best part - free cookies when you arrive ..... speaks volumes!

Room Tip: We had a 'south' facing room, no view but quiet, only the planes and other bedrooms TV's...

This must once have been a very beautiful house set as it is against a hill in parkland .However, it now resembles Colditz with the above tacked onto the end . Quite how it received planning permission for this ugly, modern addition is another question. Internally it is stark.
It is easy to loose yourself if you are negotiating the various floors via the lift. The directions are poor. Most residents end up on the wrong floor or in the basement at some time during their stay. the room numbering is "naff".Perhaps the designers are not aware that people see numbers before letters! The corridors are long and bleak.
Upon entering your room you are confronted by flat screen tv advertising the hotel playing some shrill signature tune. Beware, if the adjacent room is vacant and the staff have left that on YOU will hear it overnight!
My room was a double with twin beds. These are large and very comfortable .The room was at the rear of the hotel build into a bank now shrouded by trees in full leaf .The decor is dark chocolate with dark grey flocked wallpaper. Ceiling lights stop at the entrance ,what other light there is is via very low wattage energy saving bulbs plus a pair on tiny LED lights next to the beds.
If, you want to read or use the desk then it is almost impossible to do it without incurring severe eye strain. THE HOTEL RECEIVE REGULAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE LIGHT LEVELS BUT PREFER TO IGNORE THEMT .ALL RATHER ODD WHEN THEY SEEM TO WISH TO EMBRACE ECO FRIENDLY ,ENERGY SAVING AWARENESS .(the use of those bulbs vs the tv screen left on for hours)
Room Service for food is prompt and the quality excellent with the exception of food from the room breakfast list which offers just commercial cereals and poor quality fruit juice .No muesli for the health conscious here.Nor are bath robes or bottles of water standard fare.

Room Tip: Do not use the rear of the building and ask about the decor in your room .If you can cope with extre...

We returned here after a disappointing stay 18 months ago. This stay was totally different. A lovely room, great service in the bar and a nice meal at the club. Much better value than Narcis overrated establishment. Great for a relaxing stay.

A friend and I decided on a spa retreat as a joint birthday celebration. The hotel facilities were great and we had a really relaxed evening meal. The meat choices were fab and as a veggie I had a suprisingly good meal for a steakhouse. The spa treatments were exquisite. We went home floating on air and without spending too much.

Excellent two-night stay here to celebrate a family wedding. Rooms very comfortable but, strangely, no hair dryer but otherwise well-appointed. TV starts up very loud (an no Channel 4 available). Didn't try the Marco Pierre White restaurant but the bar serves good food. Lovely venue for a wedding on a beautiful sunny day when you can the most of Pimms in the fabulous grounds!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a great view over the grounds towards Wales - rooms at the back just look at...
