“Some Fantastic Place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Stayed here as part of our tour of south west France this August. We both agreed this was the best place we stayed in. In fact you'll find it hard to find anywhere better in the region for the standard of accommodation and price. Hosts Sarah & Steve were excellent and the breakfast superb. Only there for 3 nights and left wanting more! Hopefully we shall return!

It was pure joy to arrive at mas de garrigue. They could not have been more welcoming and were celebrant in their development of such a restorative and beautiful place to stay. I could not recommend this place more.

We stayed at La Garrigue last year and loved it so much we wanted to include a few days there in this year's holiday. We were not disappointed. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are luxurious. Sarah and Steve are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them - this year Sarah rang round the local wine shops and even managed to find us some more of the wine we had bought the previous year.

We have just returned from a 35 day tour of France and still have glowing memories of our 3 nights at Mas De Garrigue and in the stunning Lot Region. We stayed in many nice places, but what Steven and Sarah have done was just the best of all. They were referred to us by my dentist of all people and I am so grateful for that.

Steven and Sarah were both amazing hosts, the rooms were very comfortable and the large room sizes, room furnishings, bathrooms and overall design all top notch and top quality - this is a very special place. Our daughter loved the pool and Steven let her help feed the horse ('Butterfly'), donkey and pigs each morning - we will never forget that.

We traveled in many regions of France including the Dordogne, and we were amazed at what the Lot Region has to offer. The beauty and scenery was amazing, and it was just less busy than other places. Steven and Sarah also had great tips for the towns to explore - amazing places we would have bypassed that for whatever reason seem to be 'on the road less traveled' but were some of the best places to see - towns like Figeac and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

We highly encourage others to check out the Lot Region and plan on a minimum of 3-4 nights at Mas De Garrigue - it will be memorable.

Lovely place to stay, wish it had been for more than one night. Hospitality superb. Well situated for seeing many of the Lot's "must sees". Rainy but you could still see the beauty of the area. Hope to go that way again.

Although we wished that we could have stayed more than one night, we weren't prepared for the overwhelming hospitality and amenities of Mas de Garrigue. This stay is near the fabulous Grotte Pech Merle, Cahor's Pont Valentre, and charming Saint Cirq Lapopie. Our group had all the available rooms to ourselves. We were warmly greeted by Steve Allen who help with the lifting. He cautioned us not to roll heavy luggage over the beautifully-finished wood floors. Later I found out that Steve did a lot to restore the old villa to the level he wanted. The ceiling treatment with the hand-hewn wooden beams are to be admired for their rustic charm and authenticity. There is a "hunting lodge" vibe with the comfy seating and large table in the middle. Steve made sure we were supplied with drinks and snacks before dinner. He is a wonderful host besides builder/handyman.
Dinner was at 8:00 with plenty of homemade pate, a main of veal stew over rice and string beans, a cheese plate featuring Rocamadour with honey and walnuts, and a eye-popping lemon meringue pie. With all this, we had the famous Cahors red wine and the coffee finale. The dinner was a mere 34€ and the room was 100€.
We had a wonderful couple as our guides for our 6-day journey to the Lot and Dordogne. Sandra and Francis Ho Tham Kouie were exactly what we wanted--prepared, executed with professionalism and interaction. Both ate dinner with us and commented that this place and the meal were the best that the Lot area could offer.
In the morning we enjoyed a comprehensive continental breakfast. I finally met Sarah Lloyd, Steve's other half. She is a very busy hostess.
We saw that Mas de Garrigue is also a working farm with livestock and crops.
Only 10" away is Valdine Stables where we enjoyed a 2H horseback ride for 25€ per. Then on to visit the pilgrimage city of Rocamadour.
This place is not to be missed if you are in the area. Try to stay for more than one night though.
