“Great location and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Just across the road from the beach, the perfect place for brunch or a coffee. Great service and food, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown the Mount. Even have a BYO night during the week.

“Best restaurant by the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I have eaten here several times and never once was I disappointed. The food was excellent, service great and the atmosphere wonderful, and, the best beach in NZ is just across the road, what more could you ask for?

“Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

Good service and location. Could do with having some more tapas or salad options. They had a very small and average snack menu and not a lot in the cabinet.

“Lovely lunch at Tay Street Cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

We enjoyed a beautiful lunch under the verandah on a hot sunny late lunchtime. The restaurant was still busy but we were attended to with friendly service and before long we were enjoying great cider and wine with our lunch. The daily special of spinach and ricotta lemon pasta with asparagus, peas, tomatoes, black olives,Parmesan, courgettes and herbs was delicious and memorable.
Look forward to returning sometime soon.

“Disappointing dinner for 4”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Went for dinner 24th November. We have been a few times before, but not recently. Always had good service and food in the past. The two ladies had salmon, it was raw in the middle. They asked (politely) if it could be cooked longer. It came back still well undercooked. No-one came to check if it was okay. One of the girls could not eat the salmon as it still wasn't cooked enough. Waitress was told when she cleared the plates, but didn't comment.
The guys both had scotch fillet steak (medium rare) It was very chewy & not enjoyable. Going out is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, otherwise why would you bother! Won't be going back until there is a change of management!
