After being recommended No 8 some time ago, we decided to try it last weekend. Having booked a table, we arrived a little early but had to wait about 5 minutes before getting someone's attention from the kitchen to come out and serve us. Eventually seated we were disappointed with the ambience of the restaurant - really just a room between reception for the apartments and the cafe / bar. Prints on the walls had visible blue-tak to keep them straight - the place just lacked any atmosphere. We ordered a bottle of wine and bread and dips to start. Have to say we were both suprised to be served a range of differnt breads all toasted with the dips - left me thinking it was yesterday's bread! The wait staff seemed very amateur - "Is everything OK? ... Oh sweet." Our mains were very nice - Sirloin for him (cooked as requested and tasty) and the Rack of Lamb for me was lovely. In summing up the evening, despite the very good mains it was a disappointment after the reve reviews we'd heard about No8, we were expecting more :(
