“Great place but needs an upgrade”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

We have stayed at Cutters Cove a few times. It was originally 5 star but is now slipping. All the apartments are individually owned and the owners now need to spend some money to keep the interiors up to standard. Needs new TV's, king size beds, painting touch up etc. With a little TLC this could be great again.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor has the best views, however the ground floor units are by the pool and great for famil...

This was the forth time we stayed here. We had the large two bedroom top floor sea view apartment. The resort is immaculate and presented as a modern facility. Our room defiantly had a wow factor. Unfortunately the last time we stayed the managers had changed. In the past we have enjoyed the hospitality of Alan and Lyn who were friendly and inviting and even gave us a tour on our first visit. Upon arrival this time the new manager was cold and boarding rude. She asked the people checking in before us to pay upfront and sternly cited the Rules. When asked how we were paying she allowed us to pay on check out. The facilities, pool, spa, sauna and gym state in the room resort book as closing at 10pm. We were Rudely ordered out of the sauna at 9pm and when asked if the spa was open, the male host sternly said no, everything is shut. Great facilities but the new managers really could do with some customer service skills.

We booked for 2 nights and would have taken more if the weather had been better, however couldn't have asked for a bette to place to stay when there is bad weather. We actualy spent a whole morning just enjoying the room and watching the wild surf accross the raod. We shared our appartment with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I note the comments about room 309 and the condition of furniture and fittings. All I can say is that room 204 is quite the reverse. We found everything to be in good condition. The second bedroom however was realy dark due to the lack of a window and we had to leave a light on in the bathroom at night.

We are already considering a return visit.

Room Tip: Second floor has great sea views, but direct beach is hidden by dunes

Great location for a family holiday. Kids loved the apartment and activities. Pools were very good but cold. Luxury apartments advertised so I think the pool should be heated to be in line with this. We were there in Feb and the pool was very cold.
Staff friendly and helpful. Complex felt very safe.
The free broadbrand was very slow. Ok for checking emails but don't bother if you need it speedy for business.
Lots of things in my apartment were broken or in need of repair: bathroom sinks leaking and blocked, toilet flush kept flushing, tap in kitchen kept falling off.
Hopefully repairs will be sorted. I would stay again.

Room Tip: 309 has really good sea views. The couch in lounge was worn and the table and chairs were very dated...

Stayed a few nights here on recommendation from an ex pat that the mount is gorgeous. well it is, the beaches are superb. Had a 2 bedroom apartment on ground floor. large and modern and excellent in presentation. Pools are great but heat the lagoon pool for kids, its a waste not heated. Secure and safe and in great location. highly recommended.
Hot pools in town are great but stay away from Rotorua, over priced, over rated.

Stayed a few nights in a big ground floor apartment. very spacious and modern, a beautiful apartment. Great facilities and pools but it seems a waste to not have the kids pool heated. across from lovely beach and far enough from town to avoid the noise but still close enough. The hot pools are a highlight. Secure parking and great service.

Just had one night in a 2 bedroom apartment.....very spacious, everything you could want. Room was overlooking the pools (one heated lap pool and lagoon pool). Enjoyed playing tennis on the court (boundaries are a bit tight!) and girls liked the mini golf. Across the road beach access to the fabulous Mount beach and easy stroll to the Tay Street cafe for coffee. Was wonderfully quiet while we were there but then it wasn't school holidays and weather only just coming into spring. Would love to stay in summer months......or better still buy one!!!
