I had the pleasure of riding shotgun with Tony "The Tiger" Lopez, and Hall of Fame Referee Joe Cortez on the Roatan Sandblasters Dune buggy tour. As a 3-time world champion, you can figure he likes to bob and weave INTO hills and puddles... and so he did, and what a blast we had.
The tour is very well organized, and very dynamic. After burning donuts in the practice area we took off up the mountain for some trail riding. Bouncing up to the top of a peak to witness AWESOME views of Roatan's north and south shores. Then back down the mountain to an open mud pit, where you can take all the time you want to get a little dirty ;). Bouncing through puddles and full throttle in the flats was wicked fun.
After that we took off down the beach, riding on the white powdery sand, and stopped for a bit for a quick swim/wash off with some local kids in the clear water.
Then up the beach to Palmetto Bay resort, a great eco-lodge beach resort on the north shore, where we washed off again, but in fresh water, and grabbed some smoothies and beer.
We had to cut our trip a little short due to our schedule so we headed back to the Sandblasters office. Back up a trail again, did our final muddle puddle donuts, and grabbed some shirts and photos. What a great time, what a way to spend a couple hours while on Roatan.
Top Notch! Thanks Guys what a wonderful time we all had.
