This is our family's favorite "fine dining" restaurant. Food quality is very good, and service is impeccable...until our last visit. Before the commenting on the service, let me say that the food was still very good. This month, they are serving a degustation menu which I tried and loved. They had 3 kinds of appetizers; of which, the one containing the foie gras was the best as I could truly taste it. The tomato based soup was also good as it is not very sour. For the main course, they served lamb chops; one of which is grilled while other one is pan fried. I prefer the grilled one as it was very tender and juicy.
On the service, don't get me wrong, it was not bad. It was not as good as before. Both the manager and staff were not as attentive as in the past (e.g. Engaging customers on the day's specials, and describing each course as it is served. To some, this is very minor. Very true. But for someone who is used to this type of service from the same restaurant in the past, it is quite disappointing. True enough, after giving some constructive feedback, we found out that the manager is relatively new. The one who used to greet us in the past is no longer connected with the establishment. Nonetheless, as what was expected from our favorite resto, the manager took the feedback positively and promised to make things better for future customers. He also tried to make up for some shortcomings during that visit.
All is well. The Aubergine staff was able to redeem itself. With that, thank you very much for taking our feedback positively, and for making a comeback in terms of service. We truly appreciate the effort and will certainly return. We look forward to our next visit.
