Description: Aubergine Restaurant and Patisserie was established as an apprenticeship venue for International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management (ISCAHM) students for a thorough training in the same way as working in a first-class and fine-dining restaurant and in a 5-star hotel set-up kitchen. But it is the first and foremost world class restaurant that quickly carved its niche in the Philippine dining scene and beyond. Furthermore, Aubergine has earned the nod of a number of award-giving bodies including the Miele Guide, naming it as Asia's Top 20 Best Restaurants.

“Still Good But...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

This is our family's favorite "fine dining" restaurant. Food quality is very good, and service is impeccable...until our last visit. Before the commenting on the service, let me say that the food was still very good. This month, they are serving a degustation menu which I tried and loved. They had 3 kinds of appetizers; of which, the one containing the foie gras was the best as I could truly taste it. The tomato based soup was also good as it is not very sour. For the main course, they served lamb chops; one of which is grilled while other one is pan fried. I prefer the grilled one as it was very tender and juicy.

On the service, don't get me wrong, it was not bad. It was not as good as before. Both the manager and staff were not as attentive as in the past (e.g. Engaging customers on the day's specials, and describing each course as it is served. To some, this is very minor. Very true. But for someone who is used to this type of service from the same restaurant in the past, it is quite disappointing. True enough, after giving some constructive feedback, we found out that the manager is relatively new. The one who used to greet us in the past is no longer connected with the establishment. Nonetheless, as what was expected from our favorite resto, the manager took the feedback positively and promised to make things better for future customers. He also tried to make up for some shortcomings during that visit.

All is well. The Aubergine staff was able to redeem itself. With that, thank you very much for taking our feedback positively, and for making a comeback in terms of service. We truly appreciate the effort and will certainly return. We look forward to our next visit.

“Medium food, OK stuff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Medium food, OK stuff. The restaurant was empty when we got there (8:00pm weekday). The place is decorated nicely but the location in above a McDonalds restaurant. The place is very expensive and compare to what you get it is too pricey. The tenderloin steak was OK, not the best one I had and not the worst, but for 1,750php you expect more. The Grilled supreme of Chilean sea bass is not recommended, it was tasteless. There are not a lot of options for vegetarians (unless you eat sea food). The Truffled wild mushroom risotto is not recommended. Overall when you go to an expensive restaurant you have high expectation and in this case I was disappointed.

“Tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Tasty food. Had the mushroom risotto and the buffalo mozzarella salad. They gave an amuse bouche which was classy. Wine by the glass was good and reasonably priced from a North American standard. Service was good. I enjoyed my time there, but there is little ambiance to the place.

“Still good - but why only a few guests on a Saturday night?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Been to Aubergine on a number of occasion and have never been let down in terms of food, service and expectation. We always opted for the Degustation Menu, which has an excellent value in total when compared to the a la carte dishes. They offer corkage, if you want to bring your own wine (champagne Php 1000,- and wine Php 750,- / bottle), which is good. Food was excellent as usual, but we were wondering why on a Saturday night (prime time 7 pm) only 4 tables were occupied. This certainly wasn't the case before. Not that it bothered us, just wondering why such a nice place is not patronized as it used to be a few years ago?
