“Solemn memorial to WWII veterans who died in the Pacific.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

This beautiful memorial sits on a hill in Makati. It is US property, maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission. Admission is free and requires a car to enter the long drive. The hills are lined with small white crosses and stars of David representing those who died and were missing. There is a circular monument at the top of the hill, covered columns that encircle the hill like a crown on the waLls between columns are the names of those who were missing and presumed dead and those whose remains were later found. The names are alphabetical and list the service and state from which the deceased came.included arew US service people and the Philippine scouts who served with them. There are several beautiful mosaic maps depicting the battles in the Pacific. The site is impecably maintained, quiet, and serene.

“History relived a must see in Manila!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

When you enter the place you are embraced in a different world and transfered back to the time when we needed to fight for the oppressors.
Great place to go and it lets you rethink the fortune we enjoying today. Thank you to all the brave men who gave their life.

The grounds are immaculately kept and the visitor center staff is helpful. Anyone interested in learning more about the WW II history will enjoy the detailed mosaics that tell the stories.

“Worth the visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The sacrifice of so many really hits you as you walk the grounds of this well maintained memorial and cemetery. They all died so young. You can't visit Manila without seeing it.

“Moving.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Beautiful and moving. A fitting tribute. There is a good history of the war in the Pacific presented on the inside walls as well. I wish we had more time there.
