“Exquisite setting and seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

We loved the atmosphere of the piazza. The tables at the back have nice views over the sea.
I would recommend delicious the Spade agli aroma di sicilia.
We were lucky enough to be there for the 'Festival Cinema di Frontiera' so open air cinema and concerts all around us. Felt like a scene from Cinema Paradiso

“Much too expensive and erratic in quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

You pay for sitting in the lovely square. The food itself is not worth the very high prices. While the swordfish (served in chunky steaks rather than thin slices) was outstanding and the pasta with squid ink was very good, nothing else rose above the mediocre. Tagliolini with prawns and courgettes was tasteless, tuna was unremarkable, and barbecued red mullet were small and devoid of flavour. Wines were good but pricey.

“Nice sea view terrace but absolutely overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We had chosen the La Cialoma due to an article in the book "Perfect week in Sicily". Well, we would have better trusted the Tripadvisor reviews.

On the front side it does not look very nice, then we were shown to the terrace. Instead of other guests we were not allowed to take the short way (through storage room) and had to walk around. The view over the sea is really stunning, but tables are extremely pushed together to use every centimeter.

Service was professional, but nothing more. Italien friendlyness? They were perfectly able to hide it.

We ordered fresh fish barbecue style. Portions were quite big, fish was really fresh. But a restaurant specialized in seafood should be able to barbecue the fish instead of burning it.

Prices: starting with cover charge, local wine and finally the main dishes - everything ist completely overpriced. You get the same quality of wine for half the price in other restaurants and barbecued fish that is really perfect.

I would recommend to look for another restaurant and have your meal without seaview.

“Superb pasta and sea food lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Authentic Taverna at the edge if the village with a rear shaded terrace over looking the sea. Very relaxing.

Visited for lunch this week. Don't be put off by the lack of shade out front, the rear has a lovely shaded terrace with an ocean view. My wife chose tagliatelle with zucchini and shrimps and I had tagliatelle with squid in a blank ink sauce. Both were delicious and recommended. We also had a glass of wine each, dessert and coffee and whilst expensive, given the setting and the quality of the food, I thought it good value. Very little English spoken by the staff but hey! It just adds to the authenticity.

“Good food, horrible staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

The food is really good. The best red mullets (triglie) that I have ever had. Having said that, I must add that the desserts were disapointing - ready made and severely overpriced. Not something I would expect from a restaurant in Sicily. White house wine is really pleasant and dining with an astonishing sea view complets the list of my praises. Unfortunately, all that is spoiled by rude, incompetent waiters. You can stare at your dirty dishes for ages before anyone becomes interested. More wine or water? You must draw their attention first (not easy as they are obviously trained to avoid any eye contact). Coffee? Better skip that, as ordering, waiting for it to be served and followed by a bill (shame on you if you'd like to pay with a credit card or expect to receive a change) may take up to half an hour. A big surprise in a land of really amiable people that Sicily is. To wrap things up: try it, if you can brace yourself for genuine rudeness and incompetence. Oh, the fact that you speak Italian does not change much.
