“Simply Excellent, A True Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

We stayed here whilst visiting my wife's sister who lives a mile away but although she knew of the farm didn't realise they offered B&B - that's how well hidden away this little gem of a place is!

My wife decided to book us in based on these reviews, and we're so glad she did.

The evening before we travelled there John called to give us directions and wish us a good journey, he suggested we call or text him when we were within a half-hour of arriving so he could be there to greet us - what a nice personal touch, and very welcome in this day and age of rushing around! As we arrived the front door opened and John was there to help with bags or whaetever we needed, a lovely welcome after a long and tiring drive. After telling John what we wanted for our cooked breakfast we were given keys and off we went.

The accomodation was spotlessly clean and tidy, and very comfortable too, with everything we needed for our short stay.

In the morning the breakfast that John delivered was simply the best I have had in a long time - cooked to order, and all locally sourced too, some literally coming from his neighbouring farms.

Both John and his wife Marjorie were a mine of useful information on the area, happy to help in any way they could.

On the morning that we left they filled our flasks with their lovely columbian coffee - nothing was too much trouble it seemed.

All in all a lovely experience which we are happy to recommend to anyone who needs a peaceful haven in this part of the world. A lovely place run by a lovely couple!

Just returned from a college course, this placed is positioned great for the college being only a few miles away, the place is great, really clean and comfortable with great hosts who cant do enough for you, John allowed us access to facilities to sit in comfort and study whilst we stated 3 nights for the course, really cheap to. Truly recommend this place for any stay in the area or like us studying in the local area.

I've stayed here on several occasions now and I can honestly say its wonderful, clean tidy and very welcoming and excellent value for money. You get a fantastic breakfast, most of which is from local farms cooked by John. Clean bright well equipped room with kettle, tea ,coffee and flat screen TV with freeview

John and Marjorie are so friendly and will always help with your baggage should you need it.

I won't stay anywhere else now

Stayed at Three Gates Farm whilst visiting family in the area. Wonderful real farm B&B experience. Rooms and breakfast first class and John and Marjorie were the perfect hosts. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a warm comfortable place to stay. David and Nicola M.

My wife and I recently stayed at TGF entirely due to the location. I have visited the area many times but this was the first time at TGF. John and Majorie are very friendly and we were immediately made to feel welcome and truly like guests in their home. The accommodation is self contained so you have none of the embarrassment of trapsing through someone else's living quarters. We had room 2, the twin room which has views from both sides of the house. Breakfast was very good with everything cooked to order. We only stayed one night but a few nights later we were passing through the area and we stayed another night. The weather was superb the second time and we walked down the hill to The Ship pub to sit by the canal but that is a different story. Would we stay here again? YES!!

The Three Gates Farm is such a find near Manchester, and we couldn't wish for better accommodation near to the city of Manchester to stay.
John & Marjorie were so welcoming when we arrived, even though we interrupted their tea.
We knew this was a working farm before we arrived, and the sat nav took us straight to the accommodation.
We stopped in a twin single room for a great £58, with Single rooms a mere £35.
The accommodation was spotless right across the board.
The surroundings was great to, even though the weather was very wet on arrival.
There was good information left in the room, just in case you wanted to eat some where.
Even Taxi information was provided.
We slept very well, and the beds were very comfy.
Break fast was served between 7am-9am, and you were asked at what time you would like to eat.
There was plenty of choice, and plenty on your plate.
Would we stop again ?
We will look forward to booking again, and would recommend the Three Gates Farm to our friends and family.
Thanks very much John & Marjorie for a wonderful stay.
See you soon.
Mark & Denise

having stayed at three gates for a year from late 2010 to mid november 2011 ,i can honestly say john and marjorie made my stay feel more like being at home than bed and breakfast accomodation.

despite my daily early rise at circa 6am ,john was always on hand to greet me for breakfast before leaving for work .the rooms i stayed in during my year were always impeccable and maintained to a high level of decoration and cleanliness.

i have no hesitation in giving john and marjorie my 5 star rating on all counts .
enjoy your stay !

Room Tip: all rooms i stayed in were fine
