We spent the first half of our first day in Santa Teresa at the hot springs. There people there were very nice, there are changing rooms and bathrooms. Make sure to bring your own towel. Before heading into the water you rinse off in the warm showers below the springs. The water is nice and warm and amazingly clear. There are lounge chairs along the side for laying out. The grounds are nice, but I was told they were much nicer prior to a bad flood 2 years ago. I think they are doing a great job of putting the pieces back together and getting the grounds back to their formal glory (the govt. is no longer giving them funding so the council that owns the springs is doing it by themselves). There are snacks and beer for sale on the upper level of the grounds. We had the place almost to ourselves the first half of the day, and more people started to show up around 2pm and it got pretty popular. Go earlier if you want to avoid crowds. They are also open at night so you can soak in the water and look at the stars. Definitely recommend stopping by the springs to enjoy the water and help support the locals improving the springs.
